Removing steering wheel question...
So I am trying to remove the steering wheel and I am wondering what tool is needed to remove the gold bolt as shown in this wonderful tutorial by Dr Pooface https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=508011

Yes, it is such a pain! Why could Honda not have used a Philips screw? I tried using those tools shaped like an "L" and are shaped like a hexagon, maybe it is the Torx wrench you mentioned, but to no luck. I am afraid of damaging the bolt and not being able to ever take it out. I really want to put on this JDM Non-SRS ITR wheel I have sitting here...

I got it off fairly easy. I had a cheap set of wrenches and that bit was included.
Let me know if you figure out how to hook up the horn, I am stumped!!
I cant get it to work.
cheers,

Ah ha! I found the kit I need at http://www.cvfsupplycompany.com/tor7pctordri.html which includes the size T30.

Yes, that is what I was afraid of, so I stopped using the Hex after a few uneventful tries. Hopefully once the kit I ordered comes in, I will be able to go on with this.

Ah yes, I've read about that. I did a search for horn wheel, which led to great answers. Hope this helps!

I just replaced my steering wheel 2 months ago. To remove that gold bolt, you need to go to your local Pepboys and buy a TORX wrench set, which will run you about 12-15$. If you want I can go and check what size torx head you will need
there are T30 torx bits.. regardless USDM or JDM. if you stripped it... ouch i have no idea..try a slightly larger Torx bit..or you may have to drill...
Well I am back from my failed attempt to remove the two T-30 bolts. They are bolted on so tightly that my hands are almost bleeding from trying to take them off with the Torx screwdriver piece. The right bolt is very stripped from trying so hard and slipping. I don't know what to do. I feel so pissed off right now. I don't know how everyone got to take them off so easily and I am struggling for hours to take this off. Any help? Would I have to drill?

I im the exact exact spot you are, those things are stuck in there real real tight. Even my strong as **** shop teacher couldnt get them out, and he has the finger muscles.
How would I go about drilling them out?

mine was tuff too. i managed to press as hard as i could aginst the screw and twist..and it broke loose.
i guess drilling is your best option. they have bits that drill into the screw, then you reverse screw and it should both come out!

Okay, back with an update.
Today I managed to drill both T-30 bolts off and remove the airbag. I was so excited! Then came the bolt supporting the steering wheel. This is where I am stuck at now. It is tightened extremely machine-tight. Even my dad and I could not get it off with one holding the wheel and the other the wrench. So tomorrow I am planning on calling a mechanic place and ask them how much to remove the bolt. Ahhh!!! There is always something.

jesus, all this work for the ******* steering wheel. I saw some write ups where it was really easy to remove, why is on integras that everything is on so tight.
oh come on bro..put some muscle into it
i'm not like super buff or nothing.. but i got it off. i dont exactly remember if i used my regular socket wrench or the OEM lug nut wrench in the trunk (it should be the same size)... try the OEM one if you haven't. otherwise, smack the wrench with a rubber mallet. good luck!

use the torx compatible w/ the socket for easy removal of the death torqued torx bolts. I got the set at autozone for like 10 bucks.
Okay, it is installed! I drove to a shop nearby and asked the guy if he could take the bolt off. He was friendly and said sure, so I drove my car to where their garage and in one second it was off by machine. I then took out the SRS reel off as per the tutorial and slapped in the new wheel. I gave him $20 for his help. I am so happy!!!

And here are a few pics of my car. Yes, suspension upgrade is my next purchase along with some Mugen MF8's in bronze. I will be painting the car black after that.

I would like to thank everyone who replied and I hope I didn't bother you guys too much by bumping it. Also thanks to Dr Pooface for the great tutorial. I couldn't have done it without it.
