Wiring a lighted shift knob? Replacing worn carpeting? Recommended pedal replacements? 99 EX
Don't frelling goup at me for ordering a lighted shifter
I ordered a blue, lighted Type R shift **** and want to wire it so that it turns on when I turn on the parking lights (are they also called "city lights?") and headlights. I have plenty of "skillz" to do it, but I just need to know where to tap.
Also, I need to know about repairing carpeting. The last guy who had this car WORE THROUGH both the floor mat and the carpeting beneath with his shoes. He somehow managed to grind off a lot of the pedal with his shoes, too. Is there a DIY way to replace the carpeting? (I have already located new OEM floor mats.) If not, how much would it cost to have two or three 3x3-inch holes in the carpeting fixed? How much upholstery would they have to rip up for this?
Thanks, guys.....

Why dont you just put the floormats over the carpet.
And if you have the "skillz" to wire the ****, why are you asking us how to do it?

Being skilled at wiring doesn't necessitate knowing everything about a particular model of a Civic.
Edit: By the way...I just like to have my car in 100% repair. I'm a big guy about having a clean car and not cutting corners getting there

If you dont know which wires to use, then you arent too skilled at wiring then, are you. And if you are skilled at wiring, you should be able to find the wires you need, simply by tracing them back from your headlights.

"sKiLlEd" at wiring would consist of being able to read a schemaic I would assume...
If you can then I'm sure there is one online. Also shouldn't be hard just to trace it in the car from your light switch...

Why is every riced out stupid accessory always have to be called type-R?
aka they have type-R pedals, cell phone holders, those smelly things...etc etc....
What makes that shift **** close to a Type-R shift ****? Type-R shift ***** dont glow in the dark nor do they light up.
And how bout the stock pedals?

for the shift ****, use the wire for the light in your coin tray.. you can splice it or just remove it and use the power wire for just the shift ****

Cool off, dude.
I was asking so that I *DIDN'T* have to do that. MAYBE someone has an idea to where I can splice in close to the boot and don't have to take out my $250 inductor wire tracing tool and spend two hours finding the closest wire or spend that two hours with overkill wiring running it to the right parking light. OKAY?
Maybe that other guy's idea about finding some schematics is at least constructive. I haven't found them in Net searches and don't want to spend the $18 on the other manual that has the schematics just yet.

Well, you could sit in the driver seat, and turn on your lights and see what lights up inside the car. Such as, the instrument panel or the climate control. Since those light up when you turn your lights on, why cant you splice into one of those wires to power your shift ****? Its common sense man, find a part that does what you want and use the power from that.
