burnin oil -HELP-
i got a 97 grs with 70000 miles ok it...
i changed the oil to syn (moble 1) about 7k miles ago.
now my car is burnin 1 qt every 1500 miles.

That's not true. People say synthetic oil burns more because it too slick and the oil control rings can't wipe the cylinder wall clean so it burns in the combustion chamber. I Don't agree. In all reality, synthetic resists burnoff 10* more than regular oil and it's viscosity rating doesn't break-down as quickly.
First, I think you should change your oil every 3k regardless of the oil type. Even synthetic loses some of it's viscosity so @ 7k you should definitely expect to burn more oil.
Second, your car will do well with 10W30 because 70k is getting up there.

why 10w30?
oil is still burning

why 10w30?
i have the same problem with my LS, i have 140,000 on mine. i hear theres something with the head on the LS that makes it burn oil. also my piston rings are weak and that can be another issue. Maybe your rings might be getting worn.
I have noticed that my integra burns oil also. I have talked to Acura mechanics and they tell me that is an Acrua/Honda thing. I have been told that there is nothing wrong with my car.
You will also burn more oil when you add more mods to yourcar, and drive it harder...
