Default Valvetrain

I have heard alot of things about misc. valve trains. I want to be able to rev up to 9k or a little over, between 9 and 9.5k, so what should I go for? I have read that Skunk2 springs are too stiff, is this true? Would a portflow valvetrain be just as good as a Skunk 2 setup? Could ITR valves be used in my GSR? Should I buy new valves altogether, or could OEM valves handle going up that high?

OEM valves are just fine. skunk, toda, portflow, ef1, crower, etc, are all good setups.

more questions after an hour or so of archives....

With the skunk stage 2's instead of going with a skunk 2 springs/retainer combo, i could opt to go with portflow inner/ITR outer and ______retainer combo? Could ITR/Portflow take that abuse of reving to 9-9.5k?

ITR LMA's where could I find them? Would acura be the only place to go and get them?

from what I have read I would look into a set of crane/ferrea roller cam followers, and a set of valve springs and titainum retainers, here's a nice link I found when trying to research valvetrain perfomance in a b-series engine..

let me know what you think.

Honestly man, speaking from experience, if you are going to do the S2 Stage 2's then just upgrade the entire vavle train, with the full package. Skunk2 and All the other setups that have been listed are great components if you do the whole setup.

I haven't seen any dyno charts for the EF-1's but from what I hear they make great power and have comparable specs to the S2 Stage 2's. Also I've heard the EF1 springs out perform other springs interms of seating.

Might as well give them a shot... EF1's known to produce great valve trains and it's cheaper than a complete skunk2 valvetrain.. EF1 will also chip your ECU if need be.

how much does the EF1 valvetrain price for, I know the best bang for the buck would be the portflow/itr setup, resonably priced would be skunk 2, and pricey would be jun/toda, which i dont think would make sense if your not going to use their cams
