I want to buy stuff but I'm worried about being scammed. What to do.
I know this sounds like a really stupid comment but, I want to buy stuff. But after seeing 26 pages of people being scammed, how could I Help not think about that. For example I'm thinking about buying Recaro seats, I dont think im willing to send 1300 to someone accross country, and then try to get ahold of him if anything goes wrong.
ask other people about them... if they did any buisness with the person. but yeash thats kinda hard to tell sending 1300 and dont know if hes gonna rip you off or send the seats..
Thing is, there were many guys on there who checked the sellers rep, and got feedback for others, and they still got scammed. After reading it, every percaution take by buyers were some how scammed. I dunno, but 26 pages of scams, hrmm I dunno
Use Paypal, and opt for their additional insurance gaurantee.
Be very careful about sending money orders, they're basically same as cash, and there isn't a big paper trail to follow them. If you do use them, write "for deposit only" on the back, so it MUST be deposited in a bank account, which leaves a paper trail. Keep photocopies of both sides. Also I reccomend using a postal money order, and send it through the postal mail system. That way if you get ripped off, you can use the postal systems mail fraud procedures. Mail fraud is no joke, they're very serious about it.
Oh yeah, ask around, and make sure you feel comfortable with the seller.
Also, buyer/seller can paypal each other a very small amount of money, to verify each other's contact information.
Or you can put up an ebay auction with all the terms and conditions of your sale and win it for a penny. That way there is a lasting public record of the transaction.
