Default Motul 6100 5w40

I would like to use Motul in my R since I have heard and read some good things.... I went to the local performance shop, they did not have any 5w30, but did have 5w40....

Can I use 5w40 in the R? What are the major difference between the two oil weights?

Thanks.

I searched!

5/40 is fine

a lot of AJR cars run motul 5/40 or 10/40 in both 300V and 6100

300V of course is incredibly smooth, especially the 5/40. absolutely love it

a lot of japanese tuners also use 5/40 and 10/40 weights, including spoon

but the price for 300v

damn

Man. I did the oil change... what a difference... Let me say I always change my oil at 3,100 to 3,200 KM's religiously.... Mobil 1 every oil change since the factory oil was in the engine when I picked the car up with 3 KM's on it.... Anyhow, I swapped out the Mobil 1 and used Motul 8100 5w40.... First thing I noticed instantly, is the motor noise.... it quieted down quite a bit.... Also, sitting at a light, the engine is smoother...

I give MOTUL two 's up... except for the price....

Motul 6100 in 5w30 or 5w40

I'm sure the 300V is even better but never tried.....

8100 = extended interval
6100 = regular synthetic
300V = high performance/race use

8100 E-Tech lite 0W30

Gasoline and Diesel engine oil
100% Synthetic – Ester Based

TYPE OF USE
Engine oil for "Fuel economy and extended drain intervals" especially designed for powerful and recent engines, powered by turbo Diesel direct injection or gasoline engines, designed to use low friction and low HTHS (High Temperature High Shear) viscosity oil.
Suitable for all type of engine, in particular for Renault gasoline, Peugeot and Citroen gasoline and diesel Hdi engines or when a "Fuel economy" lubricant is required (ACEA A1/B5 and A5/B5 Standards), suitable for catalytic converters.
These oils may be unsuitable for use in some engines. Refer to the owner manual or handbook if in doubt.

6100 Synergie 10W40

Gasoline and Diesel engine oil
Technosynthèse

TYPE OF USE
Specially designed for powerful and recent cars, powered by large displacement engine, turbo Diesel, or gasoline engines with injection and catalytic converter.

Motul 300V

Lubricants for 4-stroke high-performance engines
Exceed API SH/CF and CCMC G-4/PD-2 or (*) G-5/PD-2 standards
300 V POWER RACING 5W30
300 V POWER 5W40
300 V CHRONO 10W40
300 V COMPETITION 15W50
300 V LE MANS 15W60
100% SYNTHETIC

APPLICATIONS
The goal of racing is to optimize the performance of a given machine for a specific race.
Hence, a single lubricant alone cannot possibly achieve top performance for every engine type in every event. MOTUL MOTORSPORT, thanks to its line-up of four different products, shall match every combination of motors and races. Suit engines of any displacement, whether of recent or past technology (Historic racing car type), multivalve, turbocharged or atmospheric, carburettors as well as fuel-injection, using leaded or unleaded gas, diesel-oil or liquefied gas, and catalytic exhausts.
For the most demanding uses of engines and lubricants :
- car racing
- sporty motoring
- long motorway journeys
- trips too short for a proper warm-up
- heavy hauls (trailers or caravans)
- city use (fuel washout during protracted idle, high running temperature for lack of engine cooling).

I love the stuff. I've been using 6100 5w40 in my GSR for over a year now... I too noticed a smoother idle...

Great oil and good price.
