The 900rr's are nice. I just picked up a 1999, for three grand. It has 40,000 miles and never been down. Is this a good deal? Also how much do you think it is worth?

Retail - $6500
Trade In - $4490
Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Mileage is a bit high, but those bikes are reliable as Hondas go.

look at it like this.....rule of thumb for most people.....10k miles on a bike is like 100k on a car.....

I don't know about that.. what is your reasoning?

10k on a bike is not like 100k on a car. My friends r6 had 35k and was still running like new. It all depends on how the bike was taken care of.
that whole 10k=100k milage thing doesnt sound right... my bike has 20,000, its 20 some years old so its using old technology, and its running like new. sure, 40,000 miles does seem pretty high, but if it runs well, i dont see why not

that is a good deal, i wouldn't be worried about the miles. I have over 30,000 mile on my RR and it still has excellent compression. To many people think that a bike that has that many miles on it will need to be rebuild. Thats not true, just like any other motor if the oil was changed and it was taken care of it should last you for along time. FTP forever

that is pretty much what i mean.......not the 25k rice car though...
honeslty do you really think that bike went 40k miles on 2 wheels all the time......i mean i dont know the story on it but who knows.......i know if it belonged to me.....it would have had 40 k miles of oil starvation and im like most riders...most like to keep 1 wheel up more then often....i think you paid way to much for it....but it was your money and your choice.....IMO i dont like any bikes with 15k on them....but if you say it is runnign good and everything else is running fine then.....ride it for whatever life it has left
