Default Which muffler looks the most stock?

I'm looking for a new exhaust for my car. I don't want one that looks any bigger than a stock one. I wanted an RSR exhaust, but, they don't sell them anymore in the states. And, its gotta be able to handle the turbo that I'm throwing on next summer. Plus, I want it to be quiet.

So, if any of you know of a muffler that fits this description, let me know. And don't tell me to get a Mugen.

From what I hear the Apexi WS is the closest sounding/looking to a stock muffler. I also hear ITR exhausts are good and flow 40% better than stock.

The Comptech doesn't really look that stock, or sound that stock. But it doesn't really look aftermarket either, and it doesn't sound like ***... it's stuck somewhere in the middle.

Please contact Dave Stadilus at smsproducts@carolina.rr.com for cost and material choices! He currently offers this set-up as a kit in mild-steel for around $350 minus tip.

Just how unsuspecting can your "prey" be when you "hunt" with a radioactive bright Phoenix Yellow ITR?

2 years ago i had a custom 3" mandrell bant exhaust made for my car w/ dyynojet 9' round muffler. To be honest it was fuking loud and abnoxious. Now I have 2000civic si full exhaust w/ a test pipe. It's quiet and still makes power i have only lost .5hp on the dyno w/ the stock SI exhaust . I will take the .5hp loss for some peace and quiet , below 6k RPM.

The Thermal 3" looks surprisingly close to stock.

Only shinier.

the WS doesn't look stock...it has this super shiny muffler that reflects any light that hits it....when you see it, you know it aint stock, period

custom or ITR is the way to go

I agree, the WS may sound close to stock, but I think that tip is 4"? The ITR tip is something like 2.5" Very different look.

The ITR muffler flows pretty well, but in order for you to see any gains you're going to have to change out the piping too for a larger diameter...I've heard of someone swapping an ITR axle back onto a GSR and gaining .5 whp MAX...that's not peak...that's MAX. Could have gotten better results from changing the intake or something...but I guess that's the case with all exhausts; if you don't change out the piping you're only going to be doing it for looks and sound.

If it's gotta be able to handle turbo then you need something close to 3." Thermal R&D makes one that is called the Stealth. Looks the same as their other exhausts but not as loud.

I'll admit radioactive yellow is exactly sleeper color, but you've got to work with what ya got!

nerdish

Your right, mild steel will rust.....unless it is thermal coated like mine! Plus, I like in the South, so salt isn't an issue. Maybe salt air, but I live 2 hours inland now.

Mugen child

Since when did "dynojet" start making mufflers? I think you mean Dynomax. With your mods, you may have been able to make the same power with an OE SI exhaust. Yet, since the original quest included a future turbo application, I beg to differ that an OE application will only cause a 0.5 whp lose!

this is lame, 2.25" piping isnt going to cut it with a turbo... itr exhaust is not the answer.

My sugestion: get the ITR muffler or axle back, then put in some 3" custom piping... or get a thermal system (what im getting), and stealth it, i had an audio file of how it sounds, and its nice.
