Default what would be faster out of these 2 setups?

b18c1 with ctr pistons, ctr cams, and possibly a golden eagle intake manifold...the pistons would bump compression up to 12.0

or

b18c5 stock....

in a ek hatch..i'm trying to decide on setups..thanks

if you must chose one out of those 2, I would go for GSR.

But for a heavy EK, H22 sounds better to me. especially n/a.

If you change the stock manifold to say a Skunk2.The first one for sure as long as it's built/tuned correctly.I personally think the b18c5/R is overrated. The tranny will also play a critical part.

i'd go with the gsr and instead of golden eagle go with skank2, yes skank2 manifold. no matter which setup you go with suspension/weight/gearing ratio and most importantly experience of the driver...you can have a jun/spoon built motor and no experience and cant break into 13's with less than 200whp.

keep in mind bigger is never better.

personally if they were the same amount of $ then i would get the R motor. the only differences in power adders seem to be the 1.5 or so bump in cr and slightly more duration on the cams. there wouldnt be a huge difference in power between these 2 setups and personally id rather have the r motor. its a better platform to build from, the crank is better, the rods are better, valve train is better, lighter valves, better exhaust and intake springs. the r blocks are also all assembeled by hand to ensure build quality. basically your lookin at maybe 10hp difference maybe? now there are people out there that are making 200 whp on stock b18c5 blocks...

if you retain the gsr tranny without lsd for the built gsr swap, i think the type r swap will be faster no question.
