This is my first time taking a head off, I'm a newbie. I took all 9 of the head bolts out, what else do I have to take off for the head to come off? The objective is to get the complete head off. Intake manifold, head, exhausts manifold...etc.

you take the braket off that holds the IM to the block?

 

There are 10 head bolts. Also what he mentioned about the IM bracket, its under the IM and attaches to the block. remember to also disconnect all the harness wires. You'll also want to loosen the tensioner and slip the timing belt off.

 

are you sure you should be tackling this alone being a newbie? get a friend or someone knowledgeable to give you a hand man.

Thanks alot for the help! I kinda thought there was a bracket on the IM connected to the block. I couldnt see it though. After I take that off and loosen the timing belt and slip it off, the head will pop off right?

Oh yeah, I cut all the harness wires.

 

all i have to say is make sure it's....TDC.....
