SHE's GONE!...Bye Bye CW 01-1229
Well, it was a good 2 years and 39003 km's, but CW 01-1229 will be putting a smile on someone else's face soon. I'm sure sad to see her go...
...I guess I will just have to try and console myself with this...
Check out the black POS they stored my car next to...the nerve!
Well, I learned a lot here and I would like to thank everyone at H-T for their help and their patience when answering my n00b questions, but now I'm of to nasioc.com to ask a bunch of different n00b questions...
Take care all.

Warranty - Shmarranty...blown motor?? I think not. A few tweaks of the internals here and there and she'll be fine.
And I think it's a step up...Don't get me wrong, the R was a great car, but it's time is coming to an end, and there's no where to go with it. I have a sneaking suspicion that Acura is either going to bring the RSX-R over here or maybe even build a TSX-R version...then where will the ITR be?? With companies like Chrysler jumping on the performance bandwagon with that new "Neon", I can't see Acura (Honda) wanting to lose market share (not that I'm suggesting that anyone should buy a Chrysler, but people will buy them) When the ITR came out it was a great car, now it's a good car, next year...???? Just my .02
Whatever, I really like my new car and I will have a lot of fun with it.
Peace.

Really?
The ITR pulls more g's on the skidpad than the 2001 WRX. Don't know about your 2003 there though. The ITR seems to be a more capable track car imo. Dominates AutoX. And when it comes to power Austrian Type-R (think thats his alias) is putting out over 400 hp to the wheels and outmuscling Ferrari's and Porsche Turbo's. If thats no where to go then it doesn't look that bad to me. Just my .02

Not really, I've seen alot of guys jacking the boost to 20 psi and still have no problems.
Just keep in mind that alot of people really do compare the ITR's to the AWD kings such as the Evo and Sti........those cars are a separate class from the ITRs.
The ITR's are still the best FWD cars in the states. As what someone else mention, its a 10 year old design.

Outclassed? Tell that to all the WRXs, Nissan SE-R SpecVs and BMW's that I send home with bruised egos after an autox...

I just couldn't jusitfy paying an additional $17K for it. Plus there are upgrade kits out there that will get the WRX to 0-60 in 4.2, plenty quick enough for me!! These kits only cost $5K. I realize that you can make 400hp in an ITR, but at what cost?? $10K, $15K, $20K? Anyone taking economics knows about the laws of diminishing returns, and IMO this applies moreso to the ITR than the WRX. Besides, with the AWD now I have a car I can drive in the winter (could only drive the R from March to October) which might not mean much to you Cali guys, but those from Canada and New York know what I'm talking about. Also, I don't go to the autocross, I just use my car as a daily driver.
I don't know why I have to justify myself to some of you guys anyway, my life, my needs and, oh yeah, my $$$$.
Some of you will never accept that better cars are coming out and think that the mystique of the Type R will never wear off...but those who fail to update get left behind. Maybe not by the WRX, but it's going to happen...sooner rather than later.
I've said all I'm going to say about this subject. This post started out as a thank-you and a farewell, it's too bad that some people can't just accept a thank-you and say 'Congratulations' and leave it at that.
Peace.

I agree with you, you shouldn't feel the need to justify YOUR choice of the car YOU bought and paid for with YOUR own money. On that note, congratulations on your purchase! I hope you have a good time and develop a great relationship with it.
Personally, I love my Type R and and have absolutely no plans of selling it any time soon. It's a fantastic car that I've had for over four years now and it still makes me giggle every time I drive it. But that doesn't mean that everyone else shares my point of view and they shouldn't have to. Everyone has the freedom to make their own choices that fit their wants and needs - some of you need to remember that that's a good thing.
*end rant*
