Default tune up time for my little hatchling?

the oddometer reads 157,1xx. we got the car with 142, xxx miles, and he recently did the tune up at that time. i know its every 15,000 miles, but i wasnt sure if it should be done earlier on older cars.

I don't think it needs to be done earlier on older cars, *IF* the engine and car are in good condition....but I do most tune-ups myself and wouldn't pay $60 to get an oil change or other repairs that I can do myself.
