Default 93 lx (auto) rear mtr mount questions

I figure I may as well pull my rear motor mount out tonight while I had the intake off, partly for curiousity and partly to see if I can do anything more to troubleshoot my rough idle.

Regarding this rear motor mount:

1) does the vacuum mechanism still do anything on a car with 150k miles?
2) would I be better off 'locking' said mechanism closed/open?
3) short of replacement, is there anything I can do to this part that may help my car's rough idle?

I think this part worries me a bit because I don't fully understand the logic behind a vacuum assisted motor mount. Seems simpler/better to just have a rubber mount, but I'm (obviously) no expert.

Thanks in advance for any help!

i have never understood that vaccuum crapified mount. But the good news is that you can just use a rear mount from a 5 speed 4th gen, it fits the same but doesn't have that vaccuum mess

that special mount is more for keeping the engine stable it wouldn't fix an idol problem i wouldn't think its not really worth the trouble to mess with
