Default CAI question

I have heard that it is beneficial to put the ITR cold air intake on a civic, as the pipe diameter is 3" as opposed to 2.5" with the civic intake. Will the AEM intake for the ITR just bolt right on to the civic throttle body, or is modification needed?

im not sure what my piping diameter is now but i think you will need to buy a reducer as mine fits streight on. i see no benifit as AEM actually thought out their products and did some testing on them to see which ones work best for each situation.

Read my sig on d series tips by spade, there is a definate benefit to running a itr CAI, but you should also run a TB from either a B16, GSR or ITR, you will need to match port the tb to the IM, but you can do that with a dremel. The benefit is an improved throttle response as well as improved air flow. Read and you will learn...

I agree to some extent.... If you do not go with a larger TB and port match it you will not see gains really. AEM does actually do research, and the size of the cai is matched to the engine. you see actually the smaller diameter will accelerate the air to a higher velocity in the length of the intake. The size has been optimized for the application. the larger demands for air on the bseries engines is why the piping is larger. Also hence the larger TB.

i agree, monday i'll be in the process of doing that. GSR tb + y8 manifold.

I gotta 3" shortram. You'll need to figure how to keep it on the TB but its a piece

of cake.

Ive got a GSR tb on a y8 mani and a 3inch AEM ITR CAI. I love it..the throttle response is great and it also feels like it pulls stronger down low (3-4k)

EDIT: You need a reducer, but you can make it fit. It no longer goes through the hole, but goes inside the fender lining from the engine bay!
