I don't want to pull my handle up anymore!
OK, I have a 99 DX coupe and I don't have power locks. I have been lifting the handle inside the car before I flip the lock mech. and it drives me nuts. On the pass. side, you don't need to lift the handle to lock the door. Is there something that I can do to make the drivers side door lock mimic the pass side door lock?
It's the same way with power locks. The door must be closed in order for them to operate properly. I have an Ex and I lock my doors the same way as you.
See the thing is that the pass. side does not work like the drivers. So with the drivers door open, you can lock the door from the inside by holding the handle up and moving the lock back. On the pass. side, with the door open, you don't have to hold the handle up. So, what I want to do is make the drivers do what the pass. side does. Does anyone know what needs to be done?

Are you sure of this? Could I possibly get a Pass. side lock only and make it fit the drivers? As in take it apart?

I kind of like this...just like the annoying *** beeping. Its saved me a lot of times from leaving my keys.

That's what I did!

That's a good idea, and I should do it. I have had car with alarms and they still get broken into and **** jacked. I have other methods to avoid theft. Plus I live in an apartment complex and when people pull in and hit their button it drives me nuts!
But does anyone ACTUALLY know how this works?

Yea, I didn't think about that.
Little rant on the side - I know there are other options that I could go with, get keyless entry, door poppers, alarm, just deal with it, lock from the outside, etc..
And while these are all great suggestions, I would really like to know if anyone has been able to get around it or not.

this is what i would do:
take apart the thing and seem how it works. if it is possible to modify it to make it similar to the passenger latch, get out the dremel and start cutting. i don't think it would be that simple, but it's worth a try. i don't think you could use a passenger latch, because it would be backwards. do older civics do this too? maybe you could get an older civic's door latch/lock thingie.

If your poor you can get a keyless entry from http://www.commandocaralarms.com for 45 bucks and the power door lock modules are like 8 dollars a pair on ebay. It isnt that expensive.
