Default slower than before

i timed my car before and i ran a 15.3 w/ i/h/e and with both sprockets advanced 2 degrees, and a untuned sfc-vtec controller. Just last week i timed it again...and ran a 15.9...but i also had removed the exhaust in favor of a factory setup (not willingly, but i live in san francisco...where the police are really up tite about things like that), and i set the cam sprockets differently...intake advanced 2 degrees, and exhaust retarded 2 degrees, but i also put in a random tech hi-flo cat, (because my old one was really messed up). I thought i would have run a similar time...does the exhaust really make that much of a difference? Also i have some funny idling problems at the time of the run...and still do...is the slower time because of the exhaust??

well try setting everything back to where you had it before (except of course the exhaust) then make another run. it's hard to tell what did it when you have changed a few things. could be the timing,or the idling problem also.

hmm...basically everything was the same...besides the exhaust, and the cam gear settings. So do you think it could be the idle problem? or the cam gear settings?

its probably the exhaust....youre more restricted now...i ran about .4 worse without my cat-back 2.5 sys. try taking off the muffler when you run.

there is only one way to find out. fix the idle problem and set the cam gears back to what you had before then run it again.your not going to gain almost a full second by adding a less restictive exhaust on a n/a honda. if that were the cas there would be low 14 second civic ex's that only have i/h/e..... not going to happen.

when i first start the car the rpms jump around from like 1400-1600 (cold). Then when the car warms up...the idle jumps around from 700-900 consistantly...no steady idle...the car sort of feels shakey when it jumps around.

It seems like 50% of the hybrids have that same problem with idle. yet, no one knows what the hell it is.

DEFINITELY sounds like you have a vacuum leak at idle. I'd check your vacuum lines and fittings for tightness and/or cracks and abrasions in the hoses.

I hope that solves something...

P.S. Not ALL B16As have idle problems. Mine idles just fine now, thank you .

also i forgot to add that besides the idle problem...there's slight hesitation once in awhile between 2-2500 rpms when i step on the gas. I just changed the o2 sensor...so i don't believe its that. But i'll check that vacuum idea out...thanx!

Try unplugging your O2 sensors. That cured my hesitation problem .
