Default Vtec oil pressure/ need to know what is good & what is not

I have never had a real oil pressure guage on my car before when I was non vtec turbo. I hear vtec motors have lots of oil pressure. Can someone tell me what kinda oil pressure they get with their GSR or TypeR engines? I need to know what you get on cold start up, when it reaches operating temp (160d) at idle, while cruising on the streets at 3500rpm and WOT. What is considered healthy oil pressure in those areas mentioned above on a LS/VtecTurbo setup with 9.75 to 1 comp?

Compression has no effect on oil pressure...

Oil pressure is affected by many things including location of the pressure sending unit. If you place it on the back of the block and relocate the stock idiot light warning sender you should see 15-25psi at idle (depending on idle speed, about 15psi at ~700rpm, about 25 psi at ~850 rpm), and about 75psi by 3000 rpm. I see a constant 70-75psi (depending on how hot the oil is) from 3k rpm all the way up to 8k. Between ~750rpm and 2k rpm I see a smooth increase from 15-50psi, and from 2k-3k I see a smooth increase between 50 and 75 psi.

I'm using a K&N Gold oil filter, and with it the oil pressures are lower than the junker OEM Honda (ie Fram) filter I was running before. This is good because of where the oil pressure sender is placed... less backpressure being developed before the filter, so there's more oil passing through more easily to lubricate the head

HTH

P.S. Oil pressure remains relatively consistent with temperature of the oil... that's why we're running a spread of oil, ie 10W30 If you see oil pressure dropping with temps rising, you need new oil! I see the same pressures regardless of engine temp - though it's *maybe* 5psi lower when the engine is hot.
