I can hear the misfire will driving (I hear it; but don’t really feel it). At first I thought it was a broken header, but it only occurred above 5500-6000rpm. I can continue to take it to red line (while misfiring) under acceleration.

Then I stopped and revved the motor in neutral. The misfire occurs right at 5500rpm.

It might be a timing issue. Have you had a diagnostic ran on it? Sounds like your timing curve is outta wack.

well , when your in nuetral ..that is not a mis fire ....that is a ECU controlled limiter that doesnt allow you to over rev the engine in nuetral ...

but if it still does that while driving ...then i suggest taking it to the dealer ..ASAP

That's it exactly. Rev limited in neutral, but I can rev through the 'misfire' while driving. Dealer appt on Monday. Hello warranty (again).

Warranty fixes so far:
-ABS wire (rodents built a nest and chewed through wires)
-Leather seat replaced (cracks)
-Hood latch replaced
-Rattle from dash (replaced temp sensor)
-Rear hatch latch (adjusted 2x, still not right)
-Both headlights (burned out)

The very reason I would never buy a car in its first year of production.

I really do like the car. It's great for my 90 mile commute each day.

The dealer has been superb in dealing with all of this, no questions asked. Loaner cars every time.

However, I may buy an extended warranty.

I asked the dealer, and they didn't question it. The seats were clearly chewed up at 30K miles.

I don't have pictures, but your description sounds like what I had. Mine eventually got worse, the leather looked really 'cracked' and 'flaky'. Mine occured on the driver side, left seat bolster - where I would slide across to get in/out of the seat. Most people (I think) see the wear in this location.

Update on Misfire : The dealer and I determined that if you are sationary and in neutral, the car will not rev past ~5300rpm. We did it in my 02 type S and an unsold 03 Type S on the lot. Try it in your Type S.

There is still a 'pressure' noise under hard accelaration around 4800rpm. The shop foreman thinks it's either a donut gasket in the A pipe, or it's the entire A pipe. He's going to talk to the Tech Line in CA and see if they've seen this before.

They'll probably replace the donut first. If that doesn't work, they'll replace the A pipe (which includes the CAT). I'll keep you posted.

I have no pictures.

I've read on this web site that there is a Service Bulletin (or whatever they're called) on the seats.

Try the search engine on the website.

If there's a Service Bulletin, you should not have much hassle getting seats fixed.

Let us know what happens.
Since it's summer, I'd be taking the ITR out a little more..

Small story kinda related to this thread. Had a RSX-S owner come in one day complaining of the car falling on its face once it hit vtec. drove the car for a half hour ragging it trying to get it to act up. Got back to the shop, and discoverd that it was extremely low of oil. We put in like 4 1/2 quarts before it hit the full mark. The guy was an idot that said he never even thought of checking his oil. Come to find out jiffy lube left the drain bolt loose..
