Quesiton about my AEM intake....Bypass Valve?
will a 2.5" AEM Bypass Valve fit on a AEM COLD AIR INTAKE 98-02 ACCORD 4CYL? ohh and one more question: you know all those 25 dollar performance chips on ebay that claim a 20 hp gain? does that actually work or is it just crap? Thanks
those bay chips, like the spoon ones, just make you run really rich.
I may get one because I want to get rid of my rev limiter and speed limiter but otherwise they are a waste of money.
They just have agressive fuel maps

Bypass valve- save your money unless you like to drive thru deep puddles.</TD></TR></TABLE>
they are worth it ever withthe 1hp loss.. who like to drive thru deep puddels anyway. its good just to be safe, right, and for just $30.00. better than a hydrolocked motor right?
by the way kattiflis, that was really BAD advice

Dude i am just saying from my personal experience. The puddles thing was sarcasm. I live in Michigan. Roads suck, rains a lot, puddles everywhere, but i personally have never had a problem. Sorry if i gave bad advice, like i stated before this is just my personal experience. Would it be right i said your advice was BS even though you may have had different experiences with a similar situation?

that makes absolutely no sence, you say not to get one, but yet you live in Mi where the roads do suck, (i know that for a fact) and it is rainy, so why wouldnt you have one, when you know it is a strong possibility to get hydrolocked?

The roads do suck, especially in Detroit. About the Bypass Valve though, I heard they don't really work unless you totally submerge the filter and if you just splash it you can still get water in your motor. Is there any truth there or is that a lie?
I believe the filter needs to be completely under water in order to lose enough pressure and cause the bypass to redirect everything out of the intake.
I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, but better safe than sorry. I'd rather shell out $20 and lose 1 big fat hp than have to buy a new motor again.

it will work and if even if not, it's a peace of mind thing...a little bit of water in your motor won't be anything to worry about...it's a lot that will make a difference...the bypass valve is worth it...
dollar for dollar a bypass is worth it. deep puddles or shallow water will break a rod quite easily. these people who say save your money are just cheap skates that run ram air anyway cause they didnt want to buy a cai
im seriously considering buying the bypass valve thingy's for both my accords, i live in NJ, and even though we dont get major water, we still get the odd puddle here and there and you know what, better safe than sorry, and worst comes to worst, if it isnt gonna rain for a week, take the thing off, keep it in the trunk or something, man, the loss of 1hp might save an entire motor, i think the trade-off is so worth it, so you know, iuf you have a 1% chance of it happening, imagine all the money you waste on garbage, and then think, 30 bucks for something so simple, again, better safe than sorry, oh, and if you disagree, such is life, and perhaps i'm wrong, and again, maybe you are?
