Anybody tried toda spec a + stock itr motor?
me! Just got back from p1 last week and installed toda a's + mugen head gasket. Here are my dyno's, (keep in mind that i think my c5 engine was a dud to begin with so my numbers were low) 1st pic is just i/h/e second is with mugen gasket and A's baseline vs tuned (gained about 10-11 hp throughout) and for those who don't know this is on a mustang dyno http://www.activeautowerke.com...t.asp

Oh and Kenji (guy who rechips P28s and makes conversion harnesses) dynoed like 186whp with Spec A cams, thinner head gasket, and i/h/e with V-AFC tuning if I remember correctly.
He said the mid was crazy too.

I know for sure that there was a Mustang dyno in FLA that was reading way higher than any Dynojet numbers I've seen...
I'll find a link.

if you turn off the weather station and manually insert the correct factors, you can get it to read higher, lower, what ever......

Well said!

Yah, Mustangs read lower, my friend owns one and it always reads lower than a dynojet. There is also one in Calgary, it also reads lower. If you've seen a Mustang that reads higher than a Dynojet it could be the software running the dyno as there are different versions other than Mustang's available to run the dyno. By the way, what were your peak numbers bone stock? I don't have my graph handy but my peak whp numbers were about 135hp and about 100 tqe.
.....it seems tom has been researching cams as well now, eh?
I'm not surprised at your plots VTHokie.
It seems spec a's offer 10whp, spec b's 15whp, and spec c's 20whp.....
Hrm... and spec a's are the only ones I don't have in my posession.....

Well I clearly remember talking to Kenji at length why I should go A's if I have a stock B18C5 bottom end a few years ago when I bought my Type R.

Spec A cams rock! I almost went to them when I broke my timing belt and found my retainers all wore away.
With high compression the Spec A cams would have an awesome VTEC kick!

All i can say so far is i love them. Have them in my car with prelude injectors and yack has my car idling nice. Great street cam! (A's + stock valvetrain + stock timing belt + mugen headgasket =
) Yeah they don't make as much midrange as the b's or c's, but i don't regret getting them.
I had the toda b's in my b16 when i had it, and i miss that too!
On a side note, i took my car (si bus) to the track for chits and giggles and ran a 14.75 uncorrected @ bristol dragway, corrected that night (crazy high elevation and 100% humidity
) it was a 14.3 w/ a 2.4 60 ft. So i think the car is very capable of high 13's. Can't wait to take it to Lowes motor speedway in 2 weeks!
