Problems with Toda B setup...
I just finished coming back from the dyno recently with my Toda B setup...
It consists of Toda B's, cam gears, upgraded valvetrain,JDM header, test pipe,Mugen exhaust, stillen fpr and vafc...Ecu chipped to 9500.I went to a local shop that has a good reputation but somehow throughout the mix my car didnt come out right.. First off after installing the cams there was a idle problem which the installer assured me that was due to a bad map sensor or idle control motor..Im a car audio installer so I trust his advice. Anyway, Initially we swapped stock vs modiefied ecu's and I dynoed at a base of 170..After tuning was all said and done I maxed at 181hp on the stock ecu..WTF..The installer said that stock ecu made more hp but the modded ecu made more torque..Honestly, I believe it could of been higher but the dyno sheet said temp was 90F..(first time ever at dyno)The problem I was encountering at the dyno was the car would constantly shut off if you didnt give it gas..I just recieved my car back and although it idles well he tells me that my Stillen fpr is crap....He said he changed everything from spark plugs to map sensor to anything connected with the fuel.whatever...He recommended the AEM or B&M..He wasnt pushing it cause he doesnt sell either. The last problem is the vafc..which I know for a fact works properly...he tells me that it not reading voltage for the pressure sensor..I suspect that it isnt connected properly anyone know the exact color at the harness...He said it measured voltage at the harness but Im not sure... I am not bitter about this thing but I hate when things arent done right...I need honest opinions about my situation cause I dont feel one its necessary to buy a new fpr.

First of all, it sounds like you have a complicated problem. Second of all, it sounds like you are losing trust in your installer. Be patient and keep smiling - it likely is a simple and stupid problem.
First of all, remove entirely the V-AFC until you have your car running well. If your ECU is chipped already - you don't need the V-AFC yet. A lot of people have problems with these machines on their completely stock cars.
Second, verify that everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) was reinstalled correctly. Some of the wires/plugs can be reversed (i.e. MAP sensor plug) if you are careless.
Third, get the car idleing properly. Re-check your cam gears, check your timing. Spec Bs don't generate a lot of vacuum so idling is a big problem.

V-AFC would throw a code if it weren't wired in right. How is that "chipped" ECU mapped? Is it mapped for Toda Spec B's or just some universal type program? Where were the cam gears set. I can give you cam gear settings to improve idle if you like. Where was fuel pressure set? How did your AF curves look? Did you wire the V-AFC for the new ECU? There's way too much to check to really help you much online.
The car runs basically fine now. Like I said the steps that you said were undertaken by my installer and basically everything was returned to stock form aside from the cams..but it would'n t even idle properly with just the stock ecu...I cant help but intially feel frustrated when my installer say's he doesnt know the problem...Am I wasting my time in purchasing a new fpr..just before I left the shop he checked the pins on the vafc to see if they were bent...In addition he said the unit was installed in another car and worked fine...Lastly what am I losing with the vafc not reading voltage from the pressure sensor..
I have seen VAFCs cause hp losses as much as 15whp on the dyno with no
adjustment at all. All the while not throwing codes.
You really need to go into great detail here

installing the VAFC and making no adjustments at all can cause a difference? If that's the case... my car is bone stock except for AEM CAI right now... should i wait to install my VAFC? (i have it already b/c i got it for a cheap price)

gimme a shout, I'll take a look at your car for you ... this is Greg.
couldn;t look it at in depth that day because the wife was waiting on me, but problem seems t be either vafc wiring, map sensor wiring or fuel pump. That stillen looked like it was adjusted too much and the car was running way rich ... enough to even foul your plugs. Did Ralphy do what I told him to ?
Also, I still say you're asking for too much with stock R compression, you were off by maybe 5-6hp ... and finally, the idle si found on any spec B or spec C camshafts, even Jeff's motor idled like that.
