Default Short Geared Turbo

I've got a jdm S1 tranny (cable) and its got some damn short gearing. Now just to give you some background i'll be running 7-9 psi on a t3/t04e .63 AR and g-force drag radials for traction on lsvtec in my crx. Now will i have traction problem? And should i sell my short geared S1 and get an LS tranny for longer gearing.

JDM s1 have fun wit turbo. u betta have a t3 or gt28 and LS motor.

t3/t4 u aint gonna utilize the power efficiently. my bros LS/vtec drag 3 system had a S1 for a month or so. and we could make the wheels spin all the way to 5th.
and not meaning jus stalled burn outs. i mean spin 1st. roll out. spin 2nd roll out. spin 3rd roll out. spin on 4th and huge chirp in 5th.

i'm thinking i don't want it to spool too fast either or it will just go nuts.

exactly, no traction in 1st - 4th and some of 5th.
that tranny is good though for drag only w/ tall slicks.
if your car is street, plan on getting the LS cable ..which is not that bad at all (has gearing a little bit longer than the G3 GSR).
or plan on getting something that takes longer to spool..

I thought a shorter geared tranny would always be better? It seems counter productive to go with something longer geared, unless you wanted highest top speed or something. If traction is the issue, isn't there a better way to correct it without tossing the better tranny? (ie: slicks)

I just want to know about this as well, I really do not know the solution here.

hmm that sucks. Cause i get raped on my S1 out here. I can barely trade it straight up for LS. What bout a t3/t4 super 60 stage3 with .63 ar? Even with the drag radials and 7 psi it will spin like mad?

you need drag radial and suspension not an ls tranny. I make 650+whp in my car and i can get traction in 4th at 29psi. i run an si tranny by the way. short as hell. on 450whp i hook in 3rd no problem. work on suspension and tires. LS sucks!!

I've always heard that shorter geared trannys are the best for drag racing and anything where you need to accelerate fast. So a short geared tranny will be the best. I'm also sure you could push it to 150mph no problem. You can only reach a certain speed in any gear so the faster you can reach a higher speed the better.

I think i'm gonna stay with the S1 even though at 120 mph i'm at 8000 rpm in 5th.
So what kind of suspension should i be looking at? This is my daily driver.

well its between 120 and 130. I haven't driven that fast in awhile. They are 15 inch rims with 205/50R15's. When i went that fast last year they were 195/60R14's. I swear this is the shortest geared honda tranny!

Although the stock meters are not 100% correct I have seen my speedo at 144mph with a few 100RPMs to go in fifth. 205/50/15 - Si tranny

Could be wrong but my gears are noticeably shorter than yours. Last year with nitrous i was doing 101 mph at the end of 4th in the 1/4.

This is a JDM ITR tranny correct? I dont believe the final drive is that much shorter than the Si's.

Looks like the S1 came out of a JDM 90'-91' Integra XSi/RSi B16A or a 90'-93' ZC

I would assume its the same as an 99'-00' Si tranny

I think i'm gonna try the S1. If its way to short then i'll go ls. I would like the S1 because if i can get traction the gears are never too short. The faster i can go through the gears the better. Might invest in an ls 5th though.
