Default Diesel Turbos?

I just got a new job and just found out that i have access to alot of turbos for diesel trucks and when we replace one we just throw them away even if there good. So my question is can they fit on a B18c? I know i would need a turbo manifold and all that good stuff but i mean could the turbo fit? Also does anyone have the link to Homemade Turbos? Thanks in Advance.

The only problem with those is they are designed for under 4000 rpm and not 8000. They would spool very fast though.

Do you plan on building the motor? Even if you do I believe that it around 15+ PSI

Off what engine?

they're probobly WAY WAY too big... if they're of BIG trucks they're too big... give it a shot but... I'd bet that they would spool at like 7k and push like 2lbs... diesels have HIGHLY compressed fuel spat into the cylinders (of which there are twice as many and usually 2-3 times the displacement PER cylinder) to make BIG boombooms... I don't think a 1.8 would spool a truck turbo if it reved to 12k...

But like I said... I've never tried it.

the AVERAGE compression on the Ford 7.6 Liter Powerstroke Diesel engine is 24:1

they will be WAY to big of a turbo

I remember some guy putting two of them on his twin turbo corvette drag car, and he couldn't get any boost out of them. This was a real drag car, he put them on since he got them for free just to try them and they wouldn't spool at all so most likly not.

the compression has nothing to do with the turbo's cfm
(cfm right?)

a diesel is high compression period, turbo or not, i bet the turbos can be used in a gasoline car

not sure

Turbos have a lot to do with the compression, the higher the compression the faster they will spool.

With the static compression of the cylinders or the output of the compressor?

Spool is determined by turbine efficiency/design and size/weight of the shaft and compressor, and how much exhaust is moving through the turbine; among other things. They don't care how much PSI is coming out.

first off the volume of EACH cylinder in a diesel engine is probobly at least twice the size of our cylinders... so thats alread 2times more gases passing through the turbo... now factor in VERY high compression (technically the compression of a diesel is very LOW but the compressed fuel being shot in componsates for that...) so now multiply at least twice the volume per cyliner TIMES 24 beyond that they have TWICE as many cylinders... you are talking about gas volumes that a civic won't put out in a matter of hours much less per minute.

Have you heard the term "Slugs"? You'll basically have no regular drivability with that thing on. They're too big for anything 2.5l and smaller . If I were you, take the compressors and have them rebuilt with smaller turbines.
