Unleaded gas...whats the highest octane?....and where to get it
goin to dyno on monday and wanted to get some higher octane fuel, the thing is that most places I have called only go to 103 unleaded, anything higher is leaded. I want to keep my o2 sensor functional. at the track they sell ONLY leaded. so im looking for help from you guys.... btw Im in So.Cal.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Are you already tuned? Or are you going to get tuned? Street or Race App? If street I would tune on 91 octane, just because that is the most widely avaliable premium octane gas. You don't wanna be stuck somewhere that doesn't have higher than 91 when you tuned on 103.

If you're just going for bragging rights or to see what your car can do, then go for it... get some race gas or something.
If you're going for tuning, the logical choice is the most widely available pump gas in your area if you intend to drive your car on the street. Like others have said, getting stuck somewhere or having to limp home because you can't find 100 octane out in the boonies would suck.

thanks for your replies, i plan to have two different settings, one for street with pump gas (timing, boost etc) and one application for race days. i heard that i could get 110 unleaded, i dont know where, is that true?

dont have one, i will be writing down all of the changes when we dyno it for the setting on race day, i will only need timing (have a adj cam gear) fuel, boost, and possibly tune my mf2, it is set for my engine already but i'm hoping to go about 16 psi for race day and 9 psi for daily driving. btw my c/r is 8.8:1 with thicker h/g, so i think i'll be safe at that psi for race day....

Cool. Sounds good, I would get the 103 octane than for race gas tuning, not gonna get much higher at the pumps with unleaded, only way I can think of is to go visit a track and fill up there. Expensive is all I can say.
Good luck.
Good luck.
The highest unleaded that I've seen up here in Oregon is 110... We just buy leaded 120 and **** up oxygen sensors... Oh well, hehe Peace
