Default Anyone using Spoon driveline products(flywheel-Clutch)

Well i discovered that i blew the clutch out of 00-R and i got quoted for the oem clutch a price of $1200 canadian+machining+labor etc, big fuggin ripoff..

Anyways i ordered up a spoon 9lb flywheel(chromoly), spoon clutch cover, and a spoon three disc clutch... Should this be a good reliable setup for my car?

get the single disk - the 3 puck will chatter a lot and is kind of overkill for what you need.

the spoon single disk is essentially the same as an OEM clutch but has a little stiffer springs on the pressure plate - if you want a more performance oriented clutch there's lots of aftermarket choices i.e. ACT or Exedy (p.s. do a search)

the spoon fw is a very nice chromoly piece.

BPR - who has tried both Spoon pieces on his kaa

JDM starter? My ITR was 100% built in Japan and it came with a JDM starter.

I have tried a couple of flywheels JUN, CM, etc... and have never had any grinding problems.

BTW, My Clutchmasters Aluminum Flywheel is for sale> Used for only 5k miles.

The USDM R's made in Japan come with a different starter than the JDM model. Some poeple have had grinding problems with the spoon fw.

Are you sure that there is a U.S. specific starter? Why would the U.S. require a different starter?

So far as I know, none of the b16a SiR(EG & EK chassis's JDM/USDM) engines have no problem with SPOON fw at all. Someone told me that's because they don't come with Denso starters. Anyway I still can't confirm if any JDM 96/98spec engine owners have problem with that fw or not.

I guess maybe it's a good idea to check if u have a Denso starter before u order SPOON fw for your ITR.

If it grinds, you should take it out before it ruins your starter. You can replace it with a b16 starter and it will be fine.

Just put it in and see if it grinds.

If it doesn't, great.

If it does, change the starter.

Changing a starter is far from difficult.

I have a usdm denso starter mated to a spoon flywheel and full faced clutch for two weeks now, no problems thus far. (knocks on wooden head) I also had a spoon three puck for about a year. I put 20k on the clutch, when it was taken off, it was still in really good shape. I used it for daily driving, spirited canyon driving, and the occasional jack *** stop light battle. I have a friend that put 40k miles on the three puck. It's ok, it's just when you are on a hill and try to take off; you have to really rev it high to get engagement.

I've never had a grinding problem in 3 years. There is nothing wrong with the quality either.

Why do you call it a piece of ****? Are Toda clutches pieces of **** too?

It is now an ash tray Now I have the XAct and it works like a champ.

It was never fixed to my knowledge. The Civic Si starter and the JDM Integra starter work great with it. With the US ITR starter, some work without a problem and some grind a lot.
