Default Autocross gurus...need help with selection of timing triggering equipment

The organization that I run with is using a relatively old system that has issues with reflectors and the changing of the sun, basically it's a pain in the *** when it comes aroung to 2pm because you have to realign the damn thing.

Question:
What triggering equipment are you running, and what would you recommend?

Thanks,
Austin

Place your reflectors inside a box/crate so that there is no direct sunlight exposure.
A good option is to find a solid plastic crate, similar to a milk crate, but with solid sides. Put it on its side with the open ends facing each other. Then just place the timing equip in them. You can cut small holes in the bottom of them to help with alignment if needed as well. Since these are pretty solid, it will allow you to put weights on top of them to prevent them from blowing away. They also can be painted bright colors to try and make them as obvious so people will keep from hitting them (hopefully).

That's exactly what we use as well. I have also seen the sensors placed in a long tube looking thing as well. Regardless of what you use you also have to be smart about how you setup your start and finish so that you don't have a sensor box pointing at a setting sun.

Pretty sweet system. We haven't had any glitches yet this year (first year using). It's nice to have real-time results.

That is the best system. A great guy in my local club here is the owner/developer of that system and he is always testing and adding new features (barcode scanners, etc.). It works without glitch 99.8% of the time...
