Default stripping out a crx

I have a friend who recently purchased a 91 crx dx. the entire back half of the car had been stripped out. the seller gave my friend all the paneling and everything that had been in there with the car when he sold it. it seriously surprised me just how much stuff was in there. my friend definitely doesnt want to put all that heavy stuff back in, but he wants to do something to keep it from just showing bare metal. he wants to find something to cover it but not add very much weight. has anyone done this? if so, what did u use? thanks a lot

The metal in there is already body color, he just wants something to cover that up. for looks as well as noise purposes

You could get that spray-on stuff that people use for truck beds, or thin down plasti-drip (avail at home depot) and paint that on - I used that for my crx's inner door handles (can't use bottom of doorpanel 'cause of rollbar), and worked really well.

You can buy some cheap automotive carpet like they use to cover speaker boxes and some 3m spay adhesive to glue it in. And it's not heavy at all. I used it to cover my bare truck floor. Here's a pic... it's not a very good one, but you get the idea.

That's a pretty good idea...just some thin carpet. Might want to use a thicker glue too so you can work the carpet around in the bends and stuff before it sticks.

I had ants all over my CRX yesterday, inside and out....I got to rip a good deal of the rear interior out as well, but most of it is back in now, minus some rubber stuff and other junk that looks like carpet pad. Oh, and there's no ants in there anymore either.

Well.... if he decides to carpet it. Don't buy the cheap 3-5 dollar a can spay adhesive. Go ahead and buy the 10-13 dollar can of 3-M spay adhesive. I tried using the cheap stuff and it will peel back up and doesn't hold well at all. Buy the way you can pick that carpet up at the Auto Parts store, They even sell it at Walmart down here. Works good too, you can stretch it over all the miscellaneous bends and uneven surfaces.

that sounds like a good idea, ...but how well does that stuff hold up to different conditions.....fading,....cracking...etc. ,....does anyone have any experience with that?

Well that pic. was taken a lil over a year ago. Here are some current ones. As for cracking.... it's carpet- won't crack. As for fading- haven't experienced any.
