91 CRX USDM SIR Type raised hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I asked this before, but no one was really clear, tried a search and it didnt show ****! I need a sir style hood, NOT THE ZC HOOD!!! because I put an H22 in the lil CRX. Carbon fiber, aluminum, fiberglass...it dont matter, as long as it looks good, or if any one knows someplace to get one... HELP!!!!!!!!!
I think you'll have to go custom, b/c I know at least in Honda Tuning their Draggin Wagon...they modded a stock hood to bump up like the SiR style, but it was custom...I thing they'd sell if someone manufactured them.

Exactly. If you have a US front end, you can go with the Fiber Images cf hood.

I am beginning to wonder if a SIR style USDM hood will be able to clear the valve cover...I need about 2". FUCH! I heard that the Fiber Images CF hood is really thin in the inner area of the valve coverby like 1" deep, and has a 1" raised cowl....making a total of 2" to clear the cover...
if anyone has a FIBER IMAGES SIR STYE HOOD(usdm) Please gimme some input, for I am lost in a desert with no water, (if you know what I mean!)

VIS does have a cf hood that fits the usdm style headlights. Call them ask them for it. Price wise I think it is just shy of $500.
I've called them many a time and vis does NOT make a cf sir hood for the usdm headlights, the only one is fiberimages.
I emailed fiber Images to send a pic of the SiR style hood, but no word yet.
If anyone has a pic. throw it up p l e a s e .

that is correct. the only company that makes the SiR style hood for the USDM front ends is Fiber Images. And their hoods are quite expensive.

Yeah, Thats what I thought..... The thing is...I dont want to buy and ship the ****** to me for a grand total of $622.00 and have it not clear the h22 valve cover.... If anyone knows or has seen the hood in person, and has dimentions, I beg you, please give us input. You guys
i have the fiber images hood on the USDM front end, fitting is great... sometimes the latch may stick but this is to be expected, looks wonderful but i do recomend clear coating it within a few months of purchasing.
im gonna guess it would probly clear an h22 cause the cowl is a pretty good size and the under skeleton is clearing the motor by far.
I've seen a stock hood clear before on a CRX. All of the under skeleton was cut out though. Dunno if you wanna do that, but if the SiR style one didn't work, you could try that.
Your gonna have to get a custom hood done, or get a cowl hood where the cowl line starts early to clear the valve cover. Based on my avatar you can see I haven't addressed this issue. I'm just gonna cut it out (even more) and make my own cowl piece. If you find something tight let me know.
I have been thinking about doing that.....I should buy a spare 91 DX Ef hood take it to a body shop, and have them cut the center piece out, add about 2" of added support and then re mount the middle piece..effectively making a cowl hood.
I just hope it dont look like ***. BTW I HATE THE GUDE HOOD!!!!!!!

I could do this very easily for you if you were closer to my shop. Figure on a body shop charging about 200-300 for the metal work and then paint and prep from there. There was a hood called (the Bullfrog) that would probably clear your motor. I haven't seen them for a while.

I wouldn't recommend that for a daily driver.

Yeah, I have another car for a daily driver...but I want to roll in the Crx sometimes, and street beat it. So a 1 piece is no good. I wish there was a shop in Tucson, or Phoenix AZ that could do the cut up and raising the cowl of a stock hood... Hey, if anyone has pics of raised or cut out hoods, I would be forever in your debt if you show them here!!!!!!!!!!
You roxors!

I've been looking for a while for the same thing, but last week I gave in and picked up a JDM Front end.
Meaning that my gutted USDM hood is up for grabs, does'nt have a whole lot of brace left in the valve cover area. It was still rubbing on the timing belt side with the new Hasport billet mounts and my LS/Vtec. It needs painted, rock chips, but I'll be selling it for next to nothing if you're interested.
