Im new to turbos! help!
hey guys, i have an 92 civic hatchback cx with an b18b swap, and i been reading up on homemade turbos at homemadeturbo.com so i went out to my local junk yard and found a 1st gen dsm, eagel talon tsi, so i got the bov and the side mount intercooler for $35,i thought that was a great deal, and today i went back to get the turbo but didnt have enough time so ill be back there 2morrow after school. The turbo is the 14b, has anyone used one before? what was your set up? and what was your result? and anyone know any other web pages about home made turbo "how to"s??

Maybe a T3 from a Saab.

that turbo might have shaft play in it.
shaft play is when the inner shaft can move around, horizontally which is caused by lack of oil, or lack of cooling in generall.
my first turbo is kinda of big, but i like it, in that boost comes only when i need it (past 3500). its a t3/to4e with a .63 exhaust side and .60 compressor with stage 3 wheel. (60 trim).
don't foget to get a well constructed manifold as that will be the part that determines if you keep a/c or not as well as how much of the block you'll need to shave. I do not think you have to shave the block with those smaller turbos, but it all depends
check the integrity of that turbo and if its good, it should be a nice starter turbo but after a couple months of boost, you'll want a bigger turbo. What are you goals for this setup? HP/TQ and 1/4 mile times, or are you looking for a nice auto/x car?

I havent ran my car on the 1/4 mile yet but im hopping to get low 14s high 13s...with a small turbo set up,(low budget). i would love to have a chance to auto/x but i havent really read up on any info about it so im not sure if there is any events that takes place in va/md/dc area.
