yup, when i shift into 3rd if i run 2nd up to like 4k rpms or so, it just started doing it one day last week. you think it could be somethin simple or my tranny diein?

 

its most likely your syncroe in the tranny

 

Check your tranny mounts for any breaking/major cracking...small shifts in them can cause some gears to be difficult. Its quite rare and our 3rd gear is always the first to go but hey, you never know.

 

My 4th gear is takin a **** one me, grinds @ high RPMs going from 3rd to 4th. Maybe its just the clutch.... Good thing its coming out soon!

Either your low on fluid or it needs to be changed because its old. I'd change the fluid if I were you.

 

o for real ive never changed the fluid, they just filled it up when i got my oil changed but i will go tomorrow morn and get it changed! i hope it works i cant afford any work on it, and i dont plan on swapping it out

 

Take honda MTF (manual tranny fluid) with you. No telling what they'll put in there if you don't.

Yes you have to go to honda for MTF, and don't worry about third gear, your syncro is going bad but mine has been bad for a little over a year and I still have third for right now.

I have another trans but it's not done yet, so I don't wan't to do double the work of taking trans out twice. If you are worried about it, just shift into third below 3000 and you will be fine.

If you want to fix it, I would have to tell you to replace 2nd and 4th also when you have it fixed.

Mine used to grind third all the time.. Changed fluid w/ Honda MTF, problem solved

 

Which tranny are you guys using? Stock CRX / EF or b16a?

My freaking b16 5th gear is grinding. It would be nice if a fluid change fixed it, but I bet it is the synchro. Sucks, b/c I have been told it costs $160. Anybody get the same price?

 

check your shift linkage alot of times a bolt could be loose and when you make the sideways movement it doesnt liek to go in, just check those too

 

get some GM Syncro Mesh.
