Are you on the correct plug wire with the timing light?- should be the one closest to the pulley.

How far off are you?

There is a little connector underneath the passenger side dashboard. It has a blue end, but I can't remember the wire colours(it's the only open connector there) just ground it out and then set the timing.

if you followed the timing procedure and you still cant see the marks then your more than likely off a tooth or something. make sure your light is working correctly before you go ripping everything apart. also if you cant see the marks holding the light straight down at it hold the light off at an angle and see if you can see your marks.

Did you make sure the car was warmed up properly?
I had the same problem, the pulley's weren't off and it was idilng right but the marks just wouldn't line up. I tried again the next day and had the same problem. The third day I tried again and it mysteriously lined up.
Moral of the story? keep trying

rather than guessing and jumping a tooth, why not check and see if the belt is on properly. trial and error isnt the right way to go about things in this area.
