cut and spliced distributor clips?

cut and spliced distributor clips?
i had to cut and splice all the wires on the two distributor clips my car wont start could this be a reason why all the wires are in the right place and my distributor is in perfect working condition btw its a 90 si harness on a b16 i heard from a friend that its not too good to do that and it wont work could this be the reason my car wont start?
