Default damn, the CRX is slammed now.

Just put on some new 13x8 wheels, and the car is slammed. I mean it was low before, when it had the steelies on there, but this is too low. Before, we would scrape the muffler on launch, now I have a feeling it's going to scrape the muffler upon any acceleration. Not to mention we can't get our jack on the jackpoint in the front.

We already had to remove the front end of the car to get it on the trailer, and sometimes it would still scrape the bolts from the battery box that are on the bottom of the floorboard.

I guess it's time to raise those coilovers. Silly thing is, they aren't even on the lowest setting.

Do you guys think I should take it out and see how it does when it's this low?

Picture of the rail underneth the door. That's a 20oz bottle of root beer.

Rear wheels.

This is from the front, the camera was set on the ground, and it's looking back. Notice the oil pan and exhaust piping.

Muffler clearance, from the rear. Yeah, I know, a new muffler is next on the list. I wish I didn't need a muffler at all..

Rears stick out quite a bit. Yeah, the shop needs to get cleaned SOON.

At least the fronts tuck in nicely. I have some 13x9 rims that need tires, they will be going in front there soon hopefully..

For the complete image gallery of the wheels, go here: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/~ndahl/crx/wheels/
Most of the exciting stuff (if you could call it that) I just posted though.

Oooh.. You're the guy that was at SCCA #3. Some friends and I were like... who brought the drag car? Then we realized you were pretty quick and not a lost drag racer.

Your oil pan is history the first time you move 20 feet in any direction. I would think this might be counter-productive. If it were me, I wouldn't go out and see how it handles until that is either dry sumped, or raised. YMMV, of course...

holy gawd. yea dude, raise it up some. i know in my bumpy home lot, ur whole car would get eaten. oil pan, exhaust, rockers, everything. i doubt u have to worry about super harsh bumps like that, but u still may want to raise the car.

haha, yeah, it was originally built as a drag car, but hey, there's no reason it can't autocross too.. It's an Si (rear discs), and still has the independent suspension, etc. It just isn't as well balanced as I'd like it to be.

BTW: That was only the second autox it had been to, the first one was raced entirely in Limp Home mode, so that wasn't much of a race. It's still getting all the kinks worked out. You may have noticed the rev limiter was kicking in on track a lot. That was actually the hondata launch control kicking in while on course, due to a malfunctioning clutch switch. We had three drivers, all in the same group, so we were rushing around trying to change drivers, and didn't get to fix any problems really. It was a long day.

We should be a lot faster at SCCA #5. Too bad the Babbs showed up at SCCA #4, or I'd still be in the running for the DM Championship.

Haha that car is LOW.

In your said in the caption, "look at the oil pan." and I was like, wait, I don't see the oil pan, just a black box sitting on the...HOLY CRAP THAT CAR IS LOW.

BTW, I want to buy your RX-7 really bad. I have about 14 grand to spend on my next car, and it's priced so right...I just don't think I'll be able to afford the upkeep on that car.

Well, it's tough to tell from the picture without some reference, but the oil pan actually has probably an inch to an inch and half to two inches of clearance. so it's not sitting RIGHT on the ground..

about my car: the upkeep on FDs isn't as bad as everyone says they are. But it certainly isn't a honda. And all the replacement parts seem to cost twice as much, plus you can't really go down to a junk yard and pull parts...

Yeah...it's just not that. Insurance and paying gas for 15 mpg would be terrible.

Not only will raising your car prevent the oil pan from bottoming out, but it will be better for your axles too. The more straight your axles are rotating.....the less friction you will have which translates to more hp to your wheels. Especially with a B-series engine in a U.S. spec CRX chassis, you are already fighting axle angle relative to the transmission. (front/back) When you slam your CRX, now your axles will fight a up/down angle.

I have the Tein full coilovers on my B17 CRX, and as much as I want to slam my REX for that look and low center of gravity when I compete, I also think about the axle angle too.

My wheels rub my fenders anyway if I go too low because I have a Progress Camber kit in the front and INGALLS adjustable turnbuckle in the rear.
