NOS.......or Homemade turbo. If you want to keep it all motor then put in some ZC pistons, Put in a better cam and have the IM honed or get a new one for better flow. Possibly some head work and you will be there.

You have a D16y8 manifold and that is the best sohc intake mani that honda makes. I would probably just keep that then dont worry so much about having that honed.

Thats where you need to sit and learn about how a turbo works first off then deside which turbo is best for your needs.

you could always go the junkyard turbo way i suppose. it sounds to me like you're on a limited budget, so that's what i'd do.

there's plenty of things u could do to make that sohc vtec quik besides turbo or nos. u could do a all motor build up, wont give you the times that a built b18c or b16 would give you, but you can get that motor pumping...and if you built the bottom end and wanted to get a lil more "umph" outta it, u could always throw in a 40 shot or so.

You can get a RPM activated switch. Something else that I would recomend besides this is rewire for OBD1. That would be the most beneficial to you seeings how your running OBD0 at the moment. REwire and the run a P28 and your going to see a decent power increase from that.

You could use an RPM activated switch, shift light, vtec controller (VAFC will let you adjust for a fuel bump when vtec engages), or convert to OBD-1.

You need a ECU and a ecu plug conversion harness and I dont know what else is involved. Do a search and I think you will find some stuff. Or else just find someone with a EF that has already done it and IM them.

i have a y8, there is nothing you can do to that motor that will make you happy, but put a turbo on it.

that motor loves boost, NA on that motor is a waste of money. just save for the power you want and get a turbo.

this is from trying everything before giving up and going turbo. my turbo at 6psi puts out more power then my y8 did with new cam, cam gear, header , exhuast, port pollish. 3 angle valve job, new springs , valves, vtec controller, blah blah blah.
dont start the wasted process.

if you want a little more power sure, it's worth it, but power is a addiction. once you get a little you want a lot.

have fun, and save for what you want.

You are running 6 lbs on stock internals, or is it mildly built? I am asking because I had blown my old D16y8 and had to get the same engine..(insurance) I really wanted to put in a b18a with some boost...but alas, it was not meant to be.....I have my h22/crx so Ill be fine..but I want to t charge the d16y8 and be at least a little quicker than some stock b16s. If I am not going to build the sohc and wanted to run f/i, what do I need to run boost wise?

Thanks all, you the men!

i a little built. i have new pistons, rods, rings, and block gaurd. , i will be running alot more boost once i get my GOD DAMN injectors from this dude i think ripped me off. anyway.

but you can run 6 psi on a stock y8 all day long. 8-10 if your lucky with just a new fuel pump..

so I can run up to 6 lbs of boost all day? Cool! What type of t kit could I get for under 1500 that is good qual?

6 lbs will give you how much hp?..to the wheels? On a d16y8, 2 1/4" exhaust, MSD 6AL, upped injectors, fp Regulator, and 105 oct.? Thanks

you can make a sohc vtec pretty quik. my friend an i raced from 20-100 and he was w/ me the whole way. he has a sohc vtec with, i/h/e, stock block and head and full interior. i was actually surprised. if he woulda had cams, intake manifold, and bottom end done...he woulda beat my ***.

Default ,

6psi with that setup. not sure hp wise. depends on your tuning but with the 103 oct.

prolly around 160 - 170 whp, does not sound like thta much. but think of it this way b16 has 160 cracnk power. so like 130-140 whp maybe.

it's enough to have fun. do a little bit of work on teh engine and you easily see over 200 whp.

also remember a swap will cost you around 3k installed.

Turbo does rule all!!!! Just dont be a dumbass with it and want to turn up the boost everytime you get in the car. Power is an addiction and once you have it you just want more.
