Default 88 Prelude engine? B20A?

The car is a 2.0S. Is this a B20A?

I know exactly zip about Honda engines and I'm trying to learn. I've rebuilt and repaired plenty of V8's but I'm picking up this Prelude to be used as an open track/autocross car. It has some engine problems and I want to learn some things about it so I can attack and repair my brother's screw-ups.
First, the timing belt broke and he replaced it (didn't check valves). I can't remember if it's a SOHC or DOHC so it may or may not have bent some of them. They drove it for a while then it ran hot and quit. It wouldn't start but after sitting for a while, it will start but the idle fluctuates up and down. No coolant in the oil so that's a good sign. I'm just not familiar enough with this engine to know what all could have gone wrong with it. I haven't pulled the head yet.

Thanks to all.

That engine is a B20A3. It is a dual overhead cam engine with 110 HP. That engine is the weakest out of the three engines available for the third generation prelude. Most likely the valves were damaged if the t-Belt snapped.

Good Luck.

Look in my sig if you want to fix up an Si prelude

Well first..The search on this site is a great feature.

Second, I wouldnt even worry about that motor...go ahead and get a used low mileage JDM B20 (the jdm version has 10 more hp)

Last, the motor in your car now is a SOHC B20A 3 B20A 5 is a DOHC.

Thanks 3G. I tried the search first and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm pretty sure this is a SOHC(I haven't looked at it in a while) which would make it a non-interference engine, correct?
This car belonged to my brother who didn't perform any kind of maintenance on it for the year and a half that he owned it. I'm not sure that the idle problem has anything to do with the timing belt/valve problem now. I think my first course of action will be to change the oil, filter, plugs, wires, and related ignition parts to see if that corrects the idle before I start tearing into it.
