Did anyone experience this at the dealer while checking out the RSX?
Today I went to the dealer to get my car looked at. It seemed like it was idling a little low. Around 500 rpm to be exact. Anyways, while I was waiting for my car to be done I went into the showroom and was looking at the RSX Type-S. First impressions was that I liked the layout of the interior and the body has grown on me. There was a couple that was in the service area when I drove up and they asked me about my car. We went outside and I was talking to the guys wife while the salesman was feeding him all this stuff about the Type-S being an all around better car than a Type-R. He was telling him stuff like it is faster, more HP, nicer ride, not as noisy, and some other bullshit. I looked at the salesman and that the cars are totally different cars and he should not compare them. He should be comparing it to the GSR. Well that is my opinion. He asked me why? I told him that the ITR is basically a streetable track car and the RSX is not. Of course the ride is going to be stiff and it is going to be louder inside the car cause of no sound deadening in the car to shave weight. So we had this debate go on for about 10 minutes or so and the whole time he didn't even know I drove a ITR. What it seems to me it that the dealer is making the RSX sound like something it is not to make some sales. Even the couple agreed with me after they took it for a test drive. I just don't think they should be mis leading people into thinking that they are getting something that they are not. That is just my .02.
Here here
Actually, a couple weeks ago I went to the local Acura dealership and all the guy could rave about were the GSRs!?! He said that Acura was giving the dealers a special rebate (in order to make room for the RSXs) so all the Integras were $4k below market value. He kept telling me that it was a much better deal than the Type-S. How's that for reverse psychology?

Thats exactly why I bought my GSR, I got it for $18G's!! Thats a lot better than $25G's for the Type-S!!!! Besides, I know the RSX is a good car no doubt, but I am waiting the hype to die down...I like the styling of the G3 Teg better anyways....

Thats a saleshole for ya. The tech guys that service your R will tell you the truth. The guy who services my R said the RSX is plush, and he said its not impressive.
All of the salesman at my local dealership were saying that the rsx s is faster to customers also.... I was in for a oil change and they were telling me how it is "so much faster than my R".....
A few nights back one of the salesman and I went to a dead (abandoned) street and raced a few times...from dead stop and rolling....The R litterally destroyed the rsx s every time....they are two totally different cars, and I feel that the rsx s will never stack up to the R especially in handling. It is a very nice car...built for a different purpose than the R.

I don't think it's really mis-leading, I think it's a lack of knowledge and the fact that most of the sales people don't even know what really makes an R what it is, nor have they ever driven one or even seen one driven to it's potential.
I'll say this again, the RSX-S is about the equivalent of the Prelude SH, NOT the R. Not quite as quick as an R, not quite as stiff, more comfortable, has a sunroof, handles very well and is more luxurious. That's a Prelude to me.

Is this really that suprising? A car salesman lying?! They do it all the time....they tell the prospective sale whatever they want to hear if they think the person will believe...

"saleshole"
Sorry about the profanity but I had a saleshole **** me off yesterday
Dealers will lie to you, no matter what. The night I went to get my GSR, I was lied to. We walked in, asked the first salesperson we saw that we wanted to see their stock of GSR's. Immediately he turned and pointed to an obvious Yellow Type R! Immediately we said, "no that is not a GSR, that is a Type R." And with that he turned around and just walked away without saying anything to us! (We later looked at the sticker on the window of the Type R, and it had a $2500 California mark up price! Did anyone else in California have to pay that for their R?)
Hey TypeRmsm! What are you going to buy another freakin car? If that is the case, I'll take one of the others off your hands. Don't care what it is just give me one! Another ?, what do you all think abuot a 92' MR2 turbo is worth? It has 90,000 miles and the guy that test drove the RSX is selling his car. I think he said he wanted $8000. Good deal yah or nah?
