dinan performance chips
well when i went to install the vafc last night i got a surprise. once i removed the kick panel i was confronted by a large dinan sticker on the ecu. it also had another sticker with some numbers and an installation date of 94. I KNEW IT! i posted a thread 2 weeks ago asking about 4th gen revlimiters because i overevved by mistake and the kept pulling up past 8000. i did a google search and i couldn't find their homepage, all i found was places trying to sell chips for bmws. i know they primarily tune bmws and are in ca. but can anyone tell me anything about this company or have their ecu chipped by them.
I used to have the Dinan ECU in my previous car, a 1993 Prelude VTEC. I sold my 93 VTEC about 3 years ago and sold my Dinan ECU to someone on this board from North Jersey about a year ago.
Redline is 8100rpm. Dinan claimed 201hp and 162lb/ft. in their marketing materials for the ECU. When I switched from stock ECU to the Dinan one, with no other changes on the car, it felt like it had more low-end and midrange kick. It also felt like the VTEC switchover spike was smoothed out and much less dramatic. The car also passed PA state emissions with that ECU.

thanks for the reply, that sounds about right as far as the vtec kick in being smooth and the midrange power. anybody else have any experiences with DINAN?
You are actually the only other person that I have ever encountered that had a Dinan Prelude VTEC ECU, and I've been on various Prelude message boards for the past 7+ years.
I think I still have copies of all the documentation on the ECU from Dinan. I'll see when I get home tonight.

I have one also, and I agree with your findings, 8100 fuel cut off, better low end and midrange, along with the smoothed out VTEC crossover. I believe I have the documentation for it somewhere as well, it's been a while since I've seen it though. Personally, I thought it made a nice difference. I had my car dyno'd with just Intake, Header, Exhaust, and the chip and put down 178whp a few years back, and the graph was a fairly smooth one.

if you could post up the docs that would be great, i'm getting the car dyno'ed on thurs and i'd like to be able to tell the shop more about the chip than "it's a dinan chip".
