4th gen console swap
hey whats up? this is my first post, so dont flame me too bad if this is in the wrong section. i went to the junkyard today, and me and my friend who also has a lude, were wondering if you can swap the center console from a 96 prelude into our 92 preludes. we need the console from right behind the shifter, all the way back to the piece that goes between the back seats. the thing we are worried about is the e-brake. its on the opposite side as in our cars. there looked like there were holes pre-drilled on the right side in the metal so you could switch it over some-what easily. any advice, comments, or suggestions are welcome. thanks. btw, i did several searches on this, so if i missed it let me know.
There are a few guys on HPOA.ORG that are trying to do this also so you might want to check there too. This is something i have wanted to do for years, you will also need the e-brake from the 96 as well as the console.Let us know what you come up with.
Ya tis true, real sports cars dont need cup holders... Thats what all you suckers without them think... And, they may not need them, but its cool as hell to have some!!
EDIT: For all of you, as you cna see I dont have the 94-96 console.. You dont have ot move ur whole ebrake or anything... Might wanna look at the pic and look into it as I also have cupholders...

i bought one from Import Auto Salvage in Marion NC, haven't installed it yet, the reason i did it though wasn't for sum cupholders, i just wanted an armrest, i had one when i had my teg, and my 5th gen has one, so......

well i'm usually the one at work who goes to buy lunch. (i don't really have a job, i'm there just in case something breaks.) so it kinda sucks playing a balancing act all the time.

Good guys, but they'd be even better if they'd let me peruse through the junkyard when i want to.

you should, so far i have bought a 93 VX hatch from them, a JDM B16, random parts for my Prelude's, got some parts for my teg, couple of my friends have bought cars from them, and engine swaps..... the reason i got in good is b/c when i bought my car there, that was when Larry Sr handled all the car sells, and then i have talked with him at like every show they've raced at, i even ran against there drag car in the final round one time in Farmington NC
Sweet.... i usually end up talking to Larry Jr. or Randy, dont think i've ever even gotten to meet Sr. I'll look for you at the meet in Charlotte next month... hopefully we'll have more ludes than there were in ATL which was about 5.
why are you guys so quick to get rid of your center consoles? personally i think its what makes the early ludes so special, i really liked mine (well of course except for the lack of cup holder thing) but its good to hear there is a direct swap, since i decided to goto a minimal interior the full length console doesn't look so hot when you don't have any back seats!
well i think that the no cup holder is a problem..as well as the fact that the compartment between the seats is nothing but a wrenched shoulder to get at while driving.. i think it's unique but trying a swap couldnt hurt

Thats one hell of a reaching stick... hope you got another driver
That'll make up for the lude that kel just traded in for a VW, and its a 93 Si too, good choice!
P.S. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.
