Vtec oil switch check engine light comes on and off.
Hey guys,
I have a b16 in my Si and get an intermittant vtec oil switch check engine light. Sometimes when i start the car it wont come on for 15 minutes, othertimes it comes on right away. A lot of the times when it comes on, it will go on and off and on and off, about 3 seconds between on and off, but never thee same amount of time.
Wiring seems good. Its grounded. The wire mesh isnt gunked up on the device. The connectors are clean. Any idea why my vtec oil switch would flicker the check engine light on and off while driving?
Thanks.

Same thing happened to me.
My Pick up Coil and Oil Pan was fucked when they dropped my was motor.
We hit the Oil Pan out and pulled the Pickup Coil and that fixed the whole drama of the engine light going on and off.
maybe u have the same problem check out ur oil pan maybe if it has a dent u need to take it off and take a look at the coil clean it and maybe the Pickup Coil is clogged.
edit: is it throwing the code or the Oil Light goes on and off?

It is throwing code 22, for the vtec oil switch the first time the CEL flickers on. Resetting the ecu takes the code away untill the CEL decides to start flickering again of course.
Yes, I checked all the wiring and the switch is ran directly to the ecu, with a ground on the frame too. Bossman sounded like he was on to something. Why ask about the ecu code or not?

Hmm when the Check Engine Light comes on it means for the Vtec Senolid it means something is wrong with the wiring or sensor.
I thought the Oil Pressure Light was going on and off on the Cluster. Sorry. But looks like you are having problem with the sensor try to swap it and see if it solves your problem. Or check your wiring like the guys said. Make sure it’s going to the right place on the ECU if not going to the right place it will throw the code. Check it out and let us know.
