whats the difference between 96-97 and 99+spec ITR motors????

I think the cams are more aggressive in the 98+ models,can anyone confirm?Ohh yea the 98+ come with the 4-2-1 header or whatever its called.

00-01 supposidly had a little bit stricter emissions on it so to counter and still have the same power they added a little more aggresive camshafts. I don't really know the difference between OBD2a and OBD2b, but they list them at the same power so I would suspect.

I believe in 98-up the port work was done by machines, and below 98 it was done by hand or something like that. If it makes any difference, the '99 JDM ITR motor was the highest horse/torque motor.

Well he said motor so technically FD doesn't count. Either way that's only in JDM land. All USDM ITR tranny's have a 4.40. I think the '96 ITR was the only one that had a 4.40. '97+ JDM had 4.78's.

How is it not? And if you wanna get technical about it some of the gears are differn't to not just the FD. I know for a fact 5th gear is.

3 degrees more duration on the intake cam on 00/01 in US.

THe 4.78 fd gets through the gears a lot quicker than the 4.4 final drive... Each gear feels shorter in the 4.78 fd than the 4.4, although the Si tranny feels pretty damn quick too. Another thing with that tranny, I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but it has a FACTORY limited slip differential.

the 96 spec has lsd as well. just not the 4.7 fd its basically a usdm itr tranny.
