building turbo kit for 00 civic si what all do I need and how much money
I could really use some help, I have a 2000 CIVIC SI and want to build a turbo kit. I need to know everything I will need to complete everything and how much I'm looking to spend on all of it, and also the best way to go. Thanks for your help.
No single person can or will explain every single detail to you in this post. If your set on building your own kit wait a year and read as many threads in this forum as you can every single day then you should be ready. Otherwise go with a kit and you should be fine reading everyday for about six months. Seriously though there is so much information on this site the search is your friend. I would research as much as possible before doing anything but i would suggest a revhard 2c kit with hondata and you should be set as long as you get it tuned. Try http://www.afterhourzracing.com for the revhard kit i think they have the best prices. If your still set on building your own check out http://www.homemadeturbo.com. Check this out to help you decide https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=313032 . Theres some info to get you started but i cant stress enough that research and knowing about your car, engines in general and turbochargers is the most important thing when building a turbo kit. Hope this helps
first of all, like others have said, take the amount of money you think you are gonna spend, and multiply it by 2.
for me, i was thinking 3500 MAX. i ended up spending close to 6000. when going turbo, dont skimp. buy the good stuff the first time so you dont have to blow stuff up and come back and spend even more money.
you are going to need a lot of miscellaneous parts: clutch, injectors, turbo timer, guages, exhaust if you dont have one already, hondata/aem, ect. and it all adds up. but make sure you do read up on everything, HT helps alot, ask questions, and dont be cheap!!!
