need help putting on new clutch cable!
my old cable snapped the other day so i got a new cable to put on. it seems like there should be just a few inches more slack to fit the cable onto the control arm. i tried putting the clutch pedal end on first (like haynes says to do) and putting on the control arm end on first. both ways leave me with very little slack to put the other end on. any tips or suggestions? otherwise i'll just have my mechanic do it. any help is appreciated!

Hook it up at the clutch pedal, then hook the cable end in at the release arm.
Then make sure the adjustment nut is loosened all the way and pull up on the cable housing upward until you can slide the cable into the holder on the transmission...

is there any way to raise the control/release arm higher than horizontal? if so that would make connecting the cable easier...
I had the same problem. Then one day I just lifted up that control arm and it was easy to do. Experiment, try doing it with the car in gear and then again in neutral, see if that arm is any easier to lift up. Or actually maybe if you can't lift that lever you can't get it to properly enguage. Hmmm I don't know, just pull harder.
this is how u adjust clutch cable
the arm off the tranny will move up down to a certain point.... that just slack.... u cant by any means raise that arm up by hand ..... and that means u cant engage clutch.... it seems it doesnt go up, but its bc the pressure plate its hard...
all u gotta do its install the cable... pull with left hand, til it gets slowly tight.... and turn the nut(***) til it holds it like that..... thats it.... when u use ur leg.. the cable goes even higher wich means clutch engage (disengaged trully)
any more tips let me know
