You can get one made from billet aluminum at http://www.z10eng.com . There are other companies that make block girdles but I can't remember them at the moment.

I was reading on a previous post(i cant find now) that to properly install these block girdles some dowl pins need to be drilled out and installed. So movement does not occur at high rpms... i remember the person who said that claimed to be the one that designed the z10 block girdle for the company.

EDIT.

Found this

Come on guys.

Why even post a reply if you're just gonna give a vague answer?

If you know why it's not imperative to install one, then impart some of that knowledge on the unknowledgable.

vague answers for vague ?s like whats a good girdle.

its just unnsecessary, what do you want me to say? it doesnt help as much as people think...i dont know the complete physics of it but thats my answer.

plus if you have a stroked motor, youll probly encounter clearance problems with the girdle.

My z10 girdle came in today. I'm gonna be running an all motor b20z. I talked to a guy over the phone at z10 and he said you really don't need a girdle covering all 5 main caps unless your producing more than 700hp's. And he also said that their drag car has like 700 hp's and their using the 3 cap girdle. I realized after buying mine it was kinda over kill for my set up considering I won't ever hit 200 whp unless I go with a vtec head and even then you wouldn't need to rev past 8,500 rpm's because the power tends to fall off after 8,000 rpms depending on the cams. I guess I just got it for added support and in case I decide to make my hatch an all out drag car.

Unless your a turboed ls/vtec, it's kinda silly to get a block girdle...

why do you say that? A gsr comes with a factory girdle and an 8200 rpm revlimit. If honda put a girdle on a gsr block with a 8200 revlimit then I'd say my B20 deserves one with a similar rev limit IMO.

I think that an all motor car does not need one. I just don't think that there will be enough flex to worry about. If I was given one tho, I'd fit it.....

i guess i'll just put on some rodbolts, and call it a day. i'm never going to rev past 8500 rpms, and that's if on the dyno it shows that i'm making power past 8000 rpms(my current redline). but like they say, to each their own!

Ive heard that girdles help to damper harmonic vibration that occur at high rpms(9,000~10,000rpm). Wouldint the the 5 main brace just absorb more?
Yeah some of them do look overkill but if the above is true wouldint it increase your engines life span? Especially in high revving stroker applications?

For the price of this product, it is a small investment of what will come if you don't get one!

i also heard that it decreases uneven bearing wear...
