no need for a "dash tach" if you arent pushing like 200 horse power. So go with the cluster.

Cluster. On-dash or pillar mounted tachs' look tacky on anything less than a real race car.

If you would of asked this a few months ago, I would of said change the cluster for a EX/Si cluster, but now I would have to say go with a tach. Its ugly but its more accurate. I had a EX/si tach in my car and the RPM readings were off. Kind of sucks when you are racing. Tach's at 8200 when its really at 7800.

i would go with the tach on the dash. imo they look better, more convinient because your eyes don't have to move as much to look at it, and more accurate.

cluster. It is clean and looks stock, unless you are into drilling a tach into your dash. Just my opinion.

I'd go with a cluster, as dash tachs seem tacky. If you get a dash tach, atleast get something that's not too flashy like VDO's gauges.

same here, and thats what I was looking for after I got my swap. I just wanted something cost effective. I like my tach now there beter. For some reason I think that the sweep of the rpm is just a bit weird, its like 220 degrees. Its a bit wierd of an angle, and I find myself always bending my head to the side at the high rpms:

IMO it isn't tacky, but does call unneeded attention toward your car. In conclusion, Get whatever you want. Not want is liked by the masses. (they may be mobs)

I didn't want a huge tach in my windshield so I bought an EX cluster. After putting it in I change my mind. This thing is SOOOOO off it's not funny. I never knew my D15 could hit 7200 rpm. I really hate monster tachs though. I have just learned to shift at what the tach says at 7200 even though it is only at 6500.

rice, where? because someone wants to be safe while racing, so they put a tach in a location easier to see, not to mention helps keep their eyes on the road while racing, w/ the use of a helpful shiftlite.

rice would be hooking up all the neon lights in your car as a shift light. so your car would be MAD BRIGHT when you shift at 6500 y0!

my definition of "rice" is fashion without function. its not like AMBER CORNERS add MAdDdD HP! even tho they do look nice.

EDIT: i agree with the stock cluster with a hidden shiftlight tho. looks nice. some guy put his shiftlift in his air vent. looked pretty sick. anyways. if you want to get the on dash tach w/ light. youll get noticed a lot more. and if you park outside. its like a magnet to thieves.
all of course, IMHO

I hate my dash tach I wish I never wated the money on it .. To bright at night big and bulky and I had a stock tach ... No idea why I bought it .. I like the shift light so I am getting a shift light kit and my phantom tach & shift light is for sale for $100..
