how do you know when the oxygen sensors are shot?
your car *should* throw a yellow checklight / code but from what I understand, it takes alot of f'ing up before an OBDI O2 sensor will throw a code. The margin of error for OBDII cars (96+) is alot smaller and they will throw a code waay before we OBDI cars will.
my car has 89,000 miles on it. my gas milage suck. i get 20mpg and on highway about 26 mpg.
is there any way i can tell for sure what is wrong?
is there anything else that i should check up on?

what year is your accord? i have a 94 we have 1 o2 sensor to change saves us a few hundred bucks there...buy the oxygen sensor socket, take it out and inspect it, do a search for "oxygen sensor" some1 put up a pictorial chart about the conditions of o2's in the archived section of accord...
the best way is to use a DSO, and check for rise time is should be under 100ms anything higher than that the O2 is slow in response. test: induce propane/ or disconnect fpr hose and watch the signal go rich and when it drops below 175mv snap the throttle and freeze the screen and check for rise time.
