I don't know if this is Tech enough to stay here but be sure to check your tire pressures. I'm not sure what the recommended interval shoud be though. Reason being is that, although it's a common sense thing
you should be doing, if you're like me, you get lazy and put it off. This is just a reminder to do it. My tire pressures were off about 4-5 lbs in the fronts and about 3-4 in the rears after not checking them for several months. My handling is back to par and my tire wear will probably be a bit more even now.
Also, don't waste your money on those pen-style tire pressure gauges! Get a good dial gauge with the air release valve on it. They're more expensive but they are more accurate.

I just checked my tire pressure yesterday since I had to fix a nail in one of my tires. My fronts are set to 33 and rear are 35.
In fact, my tire presssures were all WRONG! The fronts were 39 and 34.
Back were 34 and 8!!!
Yes 8 cause thats the one with the nail in it!!!
Its all good now and I feel relieved....
Indy
PS- I used a digital gauge...those are awesome...

I am experimenting with 35 front and 33 rears with my SP5k's. No real reason, but I am trying different combo's. Prior to that I had 35frt, 35 rears, that I used at the road track. I also had my koni's set at almost full, but it was a bit too harsh for the streets.

Good points G.
Since I have no PS, I run about 40-42 in the front and 40 in the rear on my Dunlop SP 9000.
This makes the wheel easier to turn and gets me better mileage...
Take care,

What tire pressure should i use on my 205/50/15 potenza re730?
Great topic. Here's my input and a question. I check my pressures once a month and try to keep my 15k mile Kumho 712's at 35F/33R. But I still hear some serious squeal during hard street cornering. Do I need to add more pressure or get a more serious summer tire? My next tire will be the Toyo Proxes T1-S which should add even more grip than my current 712's during the warm months.
Gary, how is your CTR cam setup doing? After my A'PEXi V-AFC install my VTEC engagement is at 5100-5400 rpm ( I change it up occasionally)
, and the power gain feels great (butt dyno). Thanks!

I too have RE730s. I use 35f/33r daily driving. AutoX I set 42f/38r. this has worked for me. I always check my tire pressures after every run, sometimes every other.
Thanks for the reminder Gary! I've been slacking off a little too, but I decided to check them today since one of the tires looked a little low on air; turns out it was. I also didn't know the pen-style gauges were inaccurate. I figured, I should be fine as long as I use the same gauge in order to keep the readings consistant. I guess that just means the readings have been consistantly off!
One other thing to keep in mind when checking tire pressure, I noticed that for my car, the side of the car that has been sitting the sun for awhile is always 1psi higher.

Aaron - The CTR cam is doing good! I got it tuned and am happy with the results. I lost some top-end but I have a lot more lower midrange and lower end grunt, which works for me for road racing. The tuner had set the VAFC X-over at 4900rpm on mine.
Marsh - It's the Gary-Lube online reminder! hehe! I actually still have the pen-style gauge and i have to take a few readings to see if I get a consistent reading. So, like you, I am consistently getting the wrong readings too!
I still need to buy a good dial gauge soon. (Man, I need to start my new job so I can get some $$ in my pocket!)

If all of you who hadn't checked your tire pressures in a while would just autocross [at least] once a month, you wouldn't have to worry about it so much!
For a decent pressure gauge at a good price, I suggest this one: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/tirega.htm. Go for the "Racer's Special" at about $30.
MmmVTEC, I find that I get the best handling out of my 712's at about 44/40 front/rear. For the street I usually run around 35/33, however.
