how to tell you have bent valves?
If you valves are bent, chances are you will not be getting any compression. Go buy a compression tester at your local auto store. Were you trying to redline up to 15k again?
this happened to my buddy and now just to me well my friend driving my car u probaly have bent vavles if u have fucked up compression in each chamber my buddy has two of his chamber with no compression and two with like 20 and 15 .... I have no compression in three chambers and 180 in my first chamber.......also your car should be idleing like a muscle car haha .........mine is ....

do a leakdown test.
prior to the test, do the following,
- take out all spark plugs
- open radiator cap
- take out intake pipe or upper charge pipe ( I am a turbo guy
)
then do the test,
-if you hear air hissing from the exhaust, your exhaust valves are bent
-if you hear air hissing from the intake pipe/TB, your intake valves are bent
-if your coolant on the radiator are bubbling, your HG may be blown
-if you hear air hissing on the other cylinder, then your rings are may be blown

lmao...thats pure genius work. *crowd stands up for appluase*
edit:
Jus' playin' wit choo...idle will be real choppy, *** load of smoke. the way i found out, only will have 15 valve on head

First, don't remove all your plugs, just the one in the cylinder that you are currently testing, as frequently if you are using a strong enough compressor, you will move your pistons if there isn't some resistance, which is bad, cause in turn that will open at least some of your valves, and you may not even notice that your crank moved off of TDC.
That being said, when you go to do this, you need to start with the crank at TDC otherwise some of the valves may be open!!!!
If your valves were bent, you'd have a pretty sick idle, depending on how bent they were....leakdown test is the only good way to tell, compression tests with little tester gauges really don't pinpoint the problem, they just tell you that you're not getting equal compression...but it could be from bad rings, bad intake or exhaust valves in addition to a lot of other things...so, if you have bent valves in all your cylinders, then you'll see them as being consistant, and it really didn't tell you ****....
Why do you suddenly think you have bent valves????

was in 3rd..brought to probably around 7000-7500 RPM, not too sure how i threw it in 2nd..but i did...and realized i misshifted..pushed the clutch in and threw it in neutral...
i didnt have any idle problems, nor did i hear anything weird now or when i did it

happened to me just recently. car would not start, but would crank and crank and fart back through the intake, which was really odd. my friend told me that the intake valves are most likely bent, and we pulled head to find 4 valves are bent.

Although it's not a great idea to over rev your motor, it doesn't sound like you bent anything....there are times when stuff like that happens, but the motor just kinda shrugs it off, and then there are times where **** happens, it sounds like you got lucky....I wouldn't worry about it.....

Lean and move your seat up...
This helps you be able to go into geat without pulling the stick towards you....which makes you not miss a shift...
Edit: As long as you didn't go to like 12,000 rpm, I wouldnt worry about it if your car is not showing any wierd signs.

Usually no, for the most part, the only way oil is getting into the cylinders is if the valve seals are somehow damaged or your rings are shot, I guess it's possible to bend the stems of the valves enough to let some oil through, but at that point you would have either dropped a valve or pieces of the valve guide, in which case you'd have worse things to worry about other than oil in your cylinders.....

No, they really don't come into play when doing a compression or leak down test. The only thing they really serve to do, is keep oil out of the combustion chamber.....
Why the sudden concern about valve seals???
Why the sudden concern about valve seals???
because my car makes a strange ticking noise. I have adjusted valves properly, idle is messed up. It will stall out sometimes, and the cylinders used to flood with fuel, but now it spits oil on the plugs.
pull off the valve cover and look at the retainer heights when the rocker arms aren't pushing down on them...so say #5 retainer is lower then #6 retainer...even when the cam isn't "on" then the valve has bent under into the comb chamber.

I'd take the **** apart, sounds like something more than a valve seal.....And actually, if it's still running, I'd do it before something worse happens.....
