Building my b16a, just need some feeback/advice
Heres the set up
jdm b16a in a 90crx si
my goal is a low 13/hight 12 second turbo crx.
all these parts i found off http://www.raceeng.com good company or no?
now to build this engine for turbo i was looking at EG-5290H3D EAGLE ROD:HONDA 16A/DEL SOL $369 SET
good rod or no? should i go crower for only 40 dollars more?
next is the pistons je pistons . SR-149214 HONDA 1.6V DEL SOL:81mm/9:1
are these the right pistons to get? size? i hav the pr3 first gen b16a engine
all the list says is del sol. but the bore size is the s ame. are there any other considerations to keep in mind? like weight or anything? is this a good compression and piston to get for my setup?
next would be a head gasket. what brand turbo freidnly head gasket should i go with? and where can i find one?
next is arp head studs. AP-208-4601 HONDA HEAD STUDS:1.6 (B16A) $129 SET
good price? right kind of studs?
next is the block guard. RA-BG1800X CYL BRACE:B16A/B17/B18-HI FLOW $99 EA
high flow, etc etc
is this all that is needed to build a good engine for 9-15 psi?
now if i were to buy all this and leave the head alone will i be safe? i plan on 9 psi boost daily and up to 15 at the track. what else needs to be done? i am fairly new at this engine buiding and would love any and all feedback. also when i t ake it to a machine shop. what should i tell them to do? just balance it all? and put it together? or micropolish the crank and all that good st uff? like i said, im not too sure what to do and how to go about all this , so please help this non boosted b16a out.
now fuel management and turbo kit selection is just another headache. but i was thinking rev hard stage 2c with a tial waste gate and rc injectors, i dont know what size, havent done enough reasurch. engine management would probably be avcr and a vafc maybe hondata?
am i even on the right track to make my b16 crx a monstor ? or am i just a noob wasting all his money? thanks for all the help. i am in the airforce so i just sit around all day thinking about this.

yeah what Art said. low to moderate boost levels on the stock B16A with the light chassis should get you where you want to be.
as for Race Eng. i used to order from them. i bought most of my parts for last years buildup from them (N2O, no turbo). pretty decent prices overall, good products too. i went with the JE/SRP piston and ring set, Eagle rods, Comectic stock style HG, ARP headstuds and Ferrea SS valves, all from Race Eng.
if for some reason you decide to build, then Eagle rods should be fine. the Crower rods you mentioned must be the Econo rods if they're only a few $ more than the Eagle rods. there are quite a few high quality piston sets out there too, JE being one of them. ARP hardware for sure. stock HG normally is fine. SS valves for higher boost levels would be good. and the blockgaurd, some use them without troubles but quite a few have problems with them. i personally will never use one.
you can find everything you need at really good prices right here on H-T, just talk to the guys. i personally no longer order from Race Eng. or the like any more cause i get everything right here.

What he said. But i do run a Block Guard. I believe that they do help out. Eagles are prolly ok for your setup, But I say get Crower, just b/c That is what i run.
