Default How many R's in Phoenix and Tucson area?

I have been seeing more and more of them lately and wanted to see if anyone wanted to have a meet.

What's up 00-115, I've had my car for close to three years and I've only seen about 5-6 R's around here. A meet sounds good, count me in. BTW, I like the RC cars you have on your sight. Do you guys race them? I used to race 1/10 scales heavily until I got the ITR. I quit cause it was getting too expensive. Now I realize how cheap it was compared to just buying new tires for this car every year.

I know most of the R owners in the Phoenix/Tucson area. We have about 10 in the Phoenix area and a bunch more in Tucson.

We were actually thinking of organizing a meet for the end of August. Who here is interested?

I was thinking August 17th?

I'm up for a meet....I'm sure that I could get a few other fellow R owners to show up to. Do any of you ever go to Pavillions on Saturday night, its mostly muscle cars but, I was there two Saturdays ago and there were two S2000s, my friends boosted GSR and a new RSX S from Scottsdale Acura. There were also about 10 VW GTIs...It was a club of them...bunch of nice guys....damn those little VWs are fast.... anyway, you can count myself and a few friends in for a meet.

You can add me to the list. Aug 17 is no good for me since I have an autocross school early the next morning down in Sierra Vista.

Onyx, are you still up for the NASA track day in September? They're doing one at St. Johns on Sep. 1-3, and at PIR on Sep. 28-30.

I bought my R in Tucson, but then exported it to Dallas. Does that count?

Which one? (I doubt I can do both, but maybe).

Have you ever run at St. John's? I saw some pictures but I don't really get the whole layout. Is it worth going, or would we be better off waiting for PIR a couple of weeks later?

ITR-01-0977,

I used to go the Pavillions with about 2 other Type-R's. The muscle cars are fun to look at. The VW guys got fast cars, but they keep to themselves in my experience. They have this whole condescending attitude thing going or something. I will be back there on August 11th and plan to go to the Pavillions as soon as my car arrives after being shipped.

ITR 231,
How much does it cost? I will go to both, I don't care. Are they on an actual track? Just tell me when, where, and how much it costs and I will be there

Count me in for just about anything. My best friend also picked up his on the same day as me... so there's two more of us for anything.
A meet might be nice, especially if it gets coordinated with another event around town...

I ran St Johns last year, it was hotter than ****, broke my widshield, and took about half the paint off the front of my car. That was the race group though, street cars might have been better because you don't tend to run nose to tail. It's an old airport in a crappy little town. Bring your own food! Last year a Bolivian Indy car team came so we got lots of free Pascena Bolivian beer, that's the only thing that saved the event. I'll be at the Sept 28-30 and October events for certain.

356,

Was the damage done by crap being thrown up from the track? Is it in that bad of shape? If that's the case, I won't bother. Unless something comes up, you can expect me at the Sep. 28-30 event.

*mmmmm, free Bolivian *

By the end of September it should be getting a little cooler. It will still be hotter than hell, esp. on the track surface, but it's better than being up there right now.

Oops, I missed this question. This .doc should answer most of your questions. If you have never raced at PIR, you'll have to take the school. (I do too, so you won't be alone).

According to the NASA website : St. Johns, Arizona is northeast of Phoenix in the White Mountains, 50 miles west of the New Mexico border and 50 miles south of Interstate 40.

Is that the place?

BTW, who are the 5 R's in Tucson? (I can think of 6, and I wanted to know if you know the same ones. If not, there might be more who are interested).

Hey ONYX00 do you know "the twins" as they call themselves? They said they knew you. I met them like a week after your first car got wrecked. They knew a guy named john with a PY R. Do you know him also? I used to have his number but I lost it. I don't think he posts here. There is also a guy named chris, but I lost his number too.

Oh yeah about the meet I think the one at the Pavillions would be cool. I have always wanted to have a big import showing there like back when I had my civic. That would cool if nine or ten R's showed up and other imports. Then maybe we can organize going to a NASA event or something. Is this Saturday good for anybody? maybe become a weekly type thing?

The Pavillions are at the 101 and Indian Bend or Indian School (one of those...I cant remember which) There is a circuit city, best buy, home depot and a ton of other stores there....the parking lot is huge and the car show normally has over 200 cars on a saturday night.

typer 00-115,

John is a good friend of mine. And I am Chris. I have met them. I forget which one, but one has a hella fast car. Both really nice guys. I am hoping to check both their cars out when i get back to AZ.

I am up for meeting the the Pavillions some night. We could also arrange a meet for maybe earlier that night with just Type-R's. Whatever you guys wanna do is kewl with me.

ITR#231-
The track is configured on the neglected St Johns airport and the surface was coming apart under race conditions. So all of the little rocks were sticking to everyones tires and flying in the air. Almost everyone went home with a busted windshield. Supposedly they had the entire airport resurfaced to fix this but I didn't make it up there July 4th weekend to check it out. Hope to see you guys in late September at the NASA event.

Cheers,
Nick
