Which motor oil to use for racing?
well, two things right off hand.
Number one, no motor oil "makes power." A motor oils numero uno job isn't power. Now, there ARE motor oils that run a lesser thickness that are less power robbing on the rotating assembly. (hence maybe an extra hp on the dyno) But no oil will make more power.
Number two. If you're racing, your question shouldn't be "more power" from an oil, it should be "the most protection." An oil is designed to lubricate and protect. These are the two most important concerns. Whether you road race, or drag race, unless you plan on tearing your motor down each weekend, you should be looking for a motor oil that does those two things.
You can use Redline oil if you really want. It's expensive, and has a lot of hype behind it. I used it once for about 1500 miles. There was simply too much blowby for me, and I'd never notice the 1 hp that the oil gave me. So I switched back.
Also, don't use redline MTF. I HATE that crap. I used it ONCE for about 500 miles, then drained that ish and put in regular Honda MTF. I've run nothing else since. When I put in Redline, I noticed my tranny was harder to get into gear even as soon as when I was pulling out of the parking lot. I just couldn't take it anymore, and I changed back. It helped a lot, but there was still a "harshness" there that wasn't there before.

Particular blends of oils can reduce friction better than others and thus yield power gains. Heat dissipation, hydrodynamic wedges, fluid stability and viscosity at varying tempereatures are contributing factors/variables to a high performace lubricant.
I use Torco motor oils and have had years of success with them. You would be suprised of the racers and enthusiasts that use them, but keep this info under wraps. It is clearly a performance advantage!

well actually the right oil can give you horspower.. the less friction ur parts have the more freely they can move.. so in one sense it does add power but very little...
the proper oil will also save parts i use mobile if its good enuf for a porsche it will work just nice and good in a gsr....

ive used the same castrol since the motor started.
5w20...grey cap...specifically for new VTEC motors.
this is a streetcar also, so if your into strictly racing, id suggest a more protective solution

i think this question has already been discussed in the drag racing forum.
oh well.. since i'm replying i might as well answer the question again. we use klotz for the holland racing hb.

Undisputed, hands down...LEADING EDGE.
Bring your oil and your money to a dyno....or a falex machine, LE will win.
